In celebration of National Arts Month and International Mother Language Day, Sarangani Writers League (SWL) partnered with independent publishing house Aklat Alamid in conducting a bookgiving-cum-storytelling activity on 21 February 2020 at Tokawal Elementary School, Brgy. Tokawal, Alabel, Sarangani Province. Sixty-three students received copies of the Ilocano picture book Ti Dakkel nga Armang from Aklat Alamid and listened to the stories Ti Nasingpet a Nuang and Dakayo kadi ti Nanagko?—Ilocano translations of two famous Adarna House picture books. The students are of Ilocano descent and from the early grades department of the school. The activity is part of the vision of Sarangani Writers League, the organization of writers in Sarangani, to promote literature in the province. By providing books to children in their own language, SWL hopes to see a future generation of writers and readers rooted to their identity and experiences in the province. The event was made possible through the efforts of the Tokawal Elementary School principal Rodolfo Cariaso, teacher-storytellers Almina Reyes Mabunga and Lyle Renola Migad, BLGU Tokawal headed by barangay captain Hon. Virgilio Tamayo, and the barangay council. #Yaduing #Tokawal #Alabel #Sarangani #SaranganiStories #storytelling #storybook #stories #Ilocano #Literature #ArtsMonth #SaranganiWritersLeague #advocacy https://www.instagram.com/p/B83vdH5n2fQ/?igshid=1nf7nouquq9hs
