Hello! I had a question about captions on pictures, and was wondering if you could answer it. (If you can't, that's okay!) You reblogged a tweet and said that especially with text-based pictures, there needs to be a caption. Why is that? Is it because of the contrast between the words and the background, and it is difficult to read? Thank-you!

I simply meant that often in text-based pictures, the text is the point of the post. If people are talking about a picture of an event, you can often get what they mean from context (I’m easily over-stimulated by visuals, so I won’t often look at a picture in a post unless it’s necessary).

But if the picture is text, often the text beneath it is referring to the text above and it’s difficult to tell what it is from context. My overstimulated eyes can normally deal with this, but sometimes people use those loopy font settings and screenshot words in those, which my dyslexia struggles with.

I’m assuming that it’s equally annoying for people with other disabilities who require captions, if not moreso, since I can usually figure out what it says if I’m willing to put up with a headache for the next hour or so.
