Though the whimsical architecture of the Palilicium agrees with Aymeric, the Sea of Crises does not. Though similar to Foundation in some respects, he finds it dreary and oppressive (and if Foundation is dreary and oppressive after the Calamity, at least Aymeric knows it was not always so). Longing for a change of scenery, he boards the train to the Sea of Nectar.

The train is a new experience; due to the nature of the landscape, most Coerthan travel is via airship or flying chocobo. He tries not to look out the window (more of a porthole, really) as the train cuts, eerily silent, through the Seas.

When the train arrives and Aymeric disembarks, he discovers that he’s quite forgotten how to dress for warmer climes. He’s sweating by the time he’s walked a few yalms from the station.

He appears to have arrived at some kind of resort town— he’s heard of their like, mostly in sordid stories and gossip. Here the white sand is dotted with beach recliners, and more than a few rustic wooden shacks serve cool drinks and refreshments to passerby. A little further inland, a long line of unassuming buildings make up what Aymeric can only assume are shops.

He’s trying to decide whether he should head to the beach to get his first look at the ocean or to stop in town first and perhaps buy some more suitable clothing when, preoccupied, he collides with someone nearly headfirst— nearly, because the girl only comes up to about Aymeric’s chest.
