This Is Alan B'Stard:
A Spotify playlist inspired by Alan.
This is a real playlist btw :)
I have no shame so tell me things about the bastardly brothers. - neil-neil-orange-peel ❤️
God I needa check my ask box more often.
Alan, Colin and Rick used to holiday at their Nan’s in Brighton when they were kids because their parents collectively wanted to ditch them every summer. They had to share one room with their Nan’s dog and used to complain CONSTANTLY on the way there. But once they got to an age when they technically could have gone to stay with a friend or just stayed home and out of their parents’ way...they still went to Brighton every summer.
Colin almost always has Christmas dinner with Alan and Sarah. It’s about as awkward as you’d expect, but Alan misses him on the rare occasions where Colin goes somewhere else.
Rick’s first word was Col, because Colin raised him more than their parents ever did.
Despite Rick’s ramblings in Summer Holiday, he was never very close to his parents. He usually only stayed with them very briefly, then went to Colin’s flat for the rest of the summer.
When Colin and Rick were still in school, they used to stay with Alan for half term.
Colin has no memory of this, but when he was a baby/toddler/ young child, Alan was around a lot more, because he got so lonely at his mother’s house that he liked having a family member who was pleased to see him. Then Rick came along and Alan got a bit more distant, because he felt he’d been replaced in Colin’s life.
Alan makes no mention of his siblings to anyone, but it isn’t because he doesn’t care. It’s because in the back of his mind (and especially after he was shot) he’s always been afraid that someone might try and get to him through them. Plus, the act of actually giving a shit about another human being, let alone two, is so terrifying he’d rather not think about it too much.
I think that’s all I can think of right now, but you know you can always ask for more and indulge my ego way too much 😂
Happy Alan day to all who celebrate 🥂
