Eternal Love of Dream - Episode 44

So Donghua is on a seducing mission kekekeke. Just kidding, but he’s definitely trying to please his Xiao Bai. Fengjiu asks him if he has anything urgent, she’s probably worried to see he’s already beack - but happy too. And the answer to that question is, yes, which is sending a gift to you. A flower crown which says: you are mine only. He’s really about the candy and even ate all of Moye’s share already. She takes him to play all around, since he had nobody to take him out when he was younger. But why is she treating him like a kid? I know she wants to make him experience all what he did when he WAS a kid, but still... For a powerful - and arrogant - immortal like that to be treated this way... Well, I guess he loves her very much to accept that. While shopping in town, Donghua notices that Miao Luo is lurking around in the dark. Such an annoying lady. Go away. Fengjiu feels bad for not having recognized him earlier and she’s happy that he cares for her like that, even though she really doesn’t understand what triggered the change in Donghua and in his attitude towards her. Love Fengjiu, that’s all about looooove! Hahaha.

Moye is tiring from keeping the furnace working all alone and has trouble to keep on making the magical tool all by himself because Donghua left him to go and spoil Fengjiu.

Fengjiu thanks Donghua for coming to see her. She wasn’t in a really good mood because she pities a lot Alanre. Then Donghua tells her not to feel too sad because she’s not Alanre and when they come out of the dream, he’s going to marry her. Wow. That guy isn’t wasting any time. You know her dad won’t want you as her husband right?  I can’t imagine Bai Yi being okay cool, you marry my daughter. Totally fine with my son-in-law old enough to be my great-grandfather. It’s not that easy. Donghua isn’t a nobody. Plus, first date properly and don’t treat her like she’s all yours when you made her so many times. Well it wasn’t all of Donghua’s fault since he didn’t know, but still. Then he kisses her and she asks him if she’s not dreaming and if he’s going to forget all of this when they get out of Alanre’s dream and he says he won’t, she doesn’t have to worry about anything. When guys say that, we girls have to worry. Sorry, not sorry.

Some there’s some sort of festival in which girls will through a magic fragrant pouch to the guy they think is cute and then they get a date. Seems to be a little steamy date. All the girls throws their pouch at Donghua and Fengjiu tries to get rid of them, but they are stuck by magic and she’s pouting very much about it. But Donghua consoles her by using his own magic to get rid of all of them. Just... Maio Luo comes out right then and sends him one and then he goes chasing after her, thus leading to Fengjiu thinking he’s flirting with someone else right in front of her. So she’s angry and sad, he just told her he wants to marry her and now he’s leaving her all alone to spend the night with another woman? Nonsense! So she goes back home without waiting for him. As soon as she gets back, Chacha comes to get her because Shen Ye got extremely drunk and is making a scene. Fengjiu stays alone with Shen Ye to deal with this.

He confronts her for not being Alanre. He cries really hard and Fengjiu doesn’t get what he’s talking about.

Donghua wins again against Miao Luo. This is getting boring. Can we skip all those little fights and get to the big final one already?

Fengjiu still takes care of Shenye and tells him that if he really liked Alanre he shouldn’t have been so cold to her and should have told her his feelings. He thought that this he could protect her. Then he’s about to touch her face and jelly territorial Donghua knocks him out. Fengjiu gets angry at Donghua and tells him that he got drunk because he noticed that she’s not Alanre. He doesn’t seem to care that much. She starts crying and says she’d rather stay in the dream than go back to her real life.

Shen Ye wakes up. This time is the last chance to get Alanre’s soul back to life so nothing can go wrong otherwise it all goes to waste

I would like to see a little bit more of the real Alanre. We don’t know anything about her. And even though it’s three world three lives, well it’s only Donghua that has more than one identity. I can’t sat he’s doing an awesome job on acting three different characters, but that’s mostly because the three roles are somewhat similar, but it’s still some extra work that Dilraba Dilmurat doesn’t have to put up with contrary to Gao Weiguang.

Eternal Love of Dream - Episode 42

Fengjiu wakes up and is wondering how come she’s inside the coffin. Is this her real self? Then she sees Donghua and he comes to her, telling her to hide well. Of course, she can’t do that. We are talking about Fengjiu. The real one there. She ends up running in the rain looking for Donghua. Stupid foolish girl. Trust him a little bit more in times like this. But at some point, I guess that’s what he likes about her, she’s a strong (?) independent woman who doesn’t hide behind his back in front of danger.

Junuo’s crying in her mother’s arms and the queen promises to find a way to make her come back to the palace. FYI, she was banished out of town. Anyways. The mother blames Shen Ye for being so cold to Junuo, if he wasn’t, she wouldn’t have gone to see another man, thus wouldn’t have become pregnant with someone’s child. But no. Just no. It’s her own fault for sleeping with somebody, she decided that by herself.

Fengjiu ends in a cave filled with scorpions. But she finally finds Donghua, which is maybe a good think He calls out her name and doesn’t say anything else before kissing her and pushing her into a wall. She’s the one pushing away and he asks her to not push him away, he feels dizzy. He wants to keep on leaning on her but she feels a little uneasy and makes him sit down shile she go get some wood to light a fire. He tries to make her stay, but she still leaves wondering what happened to Donghua to be acting weirdly like that. He looks like a child.

When she calls him to come so she can check his wounds, he says he can’t move. He acts all weak so she goes to him and have a look his wounds. When she’s done she goes further away again but he makes her come back. He tells her he came to get her. She asks him why, isn’t he happy with his Ji Heng? And he’s like how is she my Ji Heng? She deduced that from the fact he would give the pinpo fruit to her. He says he just gave it to her because he didn’t need it and didn’t want to give it to Xiaojiu because he thought she was going to make cakes for Chiwu so he was jealous. He tells her he likes her and he knows everything she did for him.

He makes her sing for him again. This time it’s more like the same voice. He promises not to hurt her again. He also songs for her and promises to take her back to Qingqiu when they get. So weird to see a childish Donghua like this.

Shen Ye is just so depressing, everytime he comes out it’s depressing.

Donghua realizes there must be a connection between Alanre and Fengjiu. Donghua brought her back and erased her nie fox tail flower. When he has to leave, she looked quite sad.

Moye comes to look for her and apologizes. And she lets him know she got her body back and her memories too. He’s really shooked that Alanre’s body disappeared. He feels that sometimes he doesn’t really know what is his life, what is the dream. Fengjiu says it’s because his life is related to the dream. They should find his answers as soon as possible so they can finally leave and go back to their real life.

Donghua wants to break the link between Alanre and Fengjiu. He’s using a furnace to do so, but not really sure about how he’s doing it. Complicated things about cultivation. I think he’s building something?

I find it that Fengjiu forgives a little bit too easy Donghua for everything. I know that there were many misunderstandings between them but still. I feel some development is missing. And also, I am getting a little bit confused about the whole point for Alanre’s dream. It’s weird. But oh well, I guess I need to keep watching to know.

Eternal Love of Dream - Episode 47

Donghua takes Fengjiu out, but then Fengjiu doesn’t really like being at the center of attention, so he takes her somewhere without people: the snake nest. At first she’s a little bit mad, because he knows she’s most afraid of snakes, but he actually wants to see if there is something in there he can discover to help them get out of the dream. But they can’t seem to notice anything like that.

Miao Luo came out once again. Donghua felt it and when Fengjiu asks him about it, he lies to her, saying it’s nothing. LIES ARE BAD DONGHUA. Just so you know. Not long after, she finds one of the letters sent by Su Moye and sends Donghua back to finish the magic tool as his presence is required by Moye. This is not the time to fool around! But right then, the king and queen of the Biyi Bird clan require Alanre’s presence at court. The queen inquires about the making of the sword by Shen Ye, but Fengjiu doesn’t really know anything about the progress of that so she says she’ll go check on it as soon as she goes back. But then again, the queen says she wants to go herself.

Shen Ye invites Fengjiu over at his place. While she’s heading over, Miao Luo follows her. Shen Ye tells ever since Alanre died, he stayed in the dream to recollect her soul and revive her. But then this time it’s about to waste all of his efforts. He knows Moye is the one telling her about Alanre’s past actions, so she can reenact them, but he gets really angry when she says Moye also wants to know what happened to Alanre. Because he left her behind. Then he tells her that from now on, to leave the dream, she should only listen to him, Moye knows nothing about Alanre’s choices. When he has revived her, he wants to tell Alanre he loves her and wish to never lose her again. Fengjiu promises to help him and then Miao Luo comes in. Shen Ye fights back, but meanwhile the artefact he used to collect pieces of Alanre’s soul gets broken, thus all those soul parts shatter around before all going into Fengjiu’s body which forces all of Alanre’s memories in her mind.

When Fengjiu goes willingly to dig into Alanre’s memories to know what happened. So basically, when the king died, even though he didn’t really like her, Alanre cried a lot and she wanted to help her brother, Xiangli He, to organize the funeral, but the queen rejected her. When she goes back home, Shen Ye is already gone, taking back his spot as archmage. She never hated Shen Ye, but had regrets. Not long after, she gets arrested for she is accused of murdering her father.

Donghua and Moye finishes fabricating the tool, artefact, whatever you want to name it and Moye is surprised that it’s just... a mirror? But Donghua says he did it to uncover what really happened because this mirror has the power to show them the past. Something like that. So they start having a look at it.

Eternal Love of Dream - Episode 48

Shen Ye had no idea that the queen would try to frame her own daughter Alanre like this, but he’s kind of stuck. Anybody knows though why she hates so much on Alanre? I think I missed that part. Anyways. So, Shen Ya asks the queen to make Wen Tian her goddaughter and to betroth her to him, as in his wife? Whaaaat? I absolutely don’t get what’s his plan here? I mean, even Wen Tian hates him after that, when she definitely did have a crush on him, that was just so obvious. She actually wants Shen Ye to save Alanre. Well he does have a plan to do that. What a relief... He takes Wen Tian for an outing and tells her to pretend to fall in the water so he could jump in and save her. He didn’t want to ask her outright to help him save Alanre before in case somebody would hear and in case she would actually betray him. He’s not a trusting one. So they manage to escape the guards with that little trick and Shen Ye sends a letter to Xi Ze so he can go and save Alanre.  Which he does. He didn’t give himself the letter though, so nobody would have tried to stop him.

Right when the queen sends Xiangli He to war, she’s told that Alanre has been taken away and Shen Ye looks relieved.  At Xi Ze’s place, Alanre can’t recognize the writing of the letter. Xi Ze thinks it’s most likely Shen Ye but she says it can’t be him, because it’s no his writing.  Maybe it’s her brother? Like the only person who actually likes her? But then Xi Ze tells her that he has been sent to war. Since she has nothing left, she decides to go and help him: seems like Xiangli He isn’t that great of a warrior, so she’s going to take his place and fight in his stead because otherwise, he’s going to die for sure. She tells Xi Ze that if ever she doesn’t come back alive, to tell the world she committed suicide and hide Xiangli He somewhere he could live peacefully. Well, big brother isn’t going to let his place go easily and Alanre has no other choice but to knock him out. Well, actually, Xize knocks him out for her and takes him away while Alanre pretends to be her brother on the battlefield. Since it was a trap to get rid of Xiangli He - that mother is one kind of a mother, she gets rid of all her children except for Junuo - when their army is about to lose, Alanre uses a very complicated spell, and dies from it. I guess there’s so much the body can handle.

Xi Ze goes to see Shen Ye and get Alanre’s letters back, as she asked him to do. He takes the opportunity to inform him that she died, but Shen Ye doesn’t want to believe it. When she went out on the battlefield, she already wasn’t planning to come back.

The clan holds some kind of ceremony by the river. On the other side, Shen Ye is going crazy. On orders of the queen, he gets shot, but I think he’s too angry to even feel it. He wants to die and take everyone down with him to avenge Alanre’s death. Hm... Dude, it’s partly your fault, she thought you betrayed her, just so you know. Anyways, thank god for Xi Ze who comes and stops that whole disaster by telling him of a way to bring Alanre back to life. So that’s how Alanre’s dream was created, to bring her back to life. Doing so, Shen Ye loses all of his cultivation in the process, which is also what send the fanyin valley into perpetual winter.

So the mystery is solved. Su Moye wonders from where does Shen Ye comes from, so they have a look at that through the mirror, which sends them right back to Taichen palace. Somehow, Shen Ye is related to Donghua, but how? That’s probably what next episode is going to tell us.

So now we fully understand what happened to Alanre and I must say that was extremely painful to watch. Poor girl. She was really ill fated. Her whole family hated her. She grew up raised by snakes. The guy she loved seemingly betrayed her. What could be worse? I feel very sorry for her, even though I can’t fully blame Shen Ye. He wasn’t the smartest, but in his way - wrong way - he was still trying to do what’s best. His pain on the scene by the river was sooo... I don’t know how to say it, but I could feel it. All that anger and those regrets together. That was very moving.

Eternal Love of Dream - Episode 45

Donghua decides to move in with Fengjiu. This couple is burning some steps. Anyways. Fengjiu doesn’t agree anyways, but he decided and won’t change his mind no matter what. That’s exactly at that moment that Shen  Ye decides to come to apologize but he gets really shocked seeing Fengjiu and Donghua acting all lovey-dovey and leaves without meeting her.

Donghua takes over Moye’s place to make the tool and sends him to rest for two days. Moye asks Fengjiu if anything came out with Shenye and she says nothing except for the drinking incident. She asks Moye to tell her about the rest of the story between Alanre and Shenye. She feels he’s hiding something from her. But he says he himself doesn’t know much, because he left for going home, but he still tells her what he knows.

Alanre went to pay a visit to Xi Ze hand he caught a beast so she should practice her archery skills. No matter how precisely she shoots, the beast moves way too fast. But in the end, she manages to shoot it but then trips and hurts herself. The beast is about to kill her when she’s saved by Shen Ye. Shen Ye is really mad at Xi Ze for not saving Alanre, he’s her husband he should take better care of his wife, but Xi Ze says a piece of paper doesn’t mean anything, neither for him or Alanre, plus since Shen Ye already saved her, if he came in too it would have been pointless. Then Shen Ye’s feelings for Alanre are revealed. But they could never be openly together. Then Moye left for a few years so he’s not really clear about what happened. But rumour was that Alanre killed herself on the day Junuo was banished and that she poisoned the king, he didn’t die from illness. And Shen Ye didn’t save her. Oh so basically, Alanre would have killed herself because of Shen Ye. Well, she doesn’t seem to be that kind of girl in my opinion, but okay. Makes sense that Moye doesn’t believe it.

The queen finally tells the truth to Jielv. She tells her Alanre is her little sister. Alanre’s dream is the price the Biyi Bird clan has to pay for what happened. She says that the person who created the dream used all of his spiritual energy in doing so, but this person really can’t compare with Donghua, so if he’s not coming out yet, it’s because he’s letting Fengjiu heal and is waiting for the right timing. There is no way Donghua wouldn’t be able to come out by himself.

This is getting quite complicated now... Maybe that’s one of the reasons my recaps are getting shorter and shorter? I am so focused on trying to follow the action going all over the place that I don’t have much recollection of my feelings while I was watching, perhaps except confusion? Anyways, I feel like it’s going to take like forever before we can finally get closure on Alanre’s dream and to me the story is dragging on. I am ready to move on and it’s about time. Can’t bear to see any more of this depressed Shen Ye, it makes me depressed. Every time we get one step closer to solving the mystery of Alanre’s death, we actually go further away again. So annoying...

Eternal Love of Dream - Episode 49

And that’s how Moye and Donghua realize that Shen Ye is actually Donghua’s shadow, created while he was in the mortal realm for his love trial.  And they also learn that Alanre is actually Fengjiu’s shadow, sent to serve Donghua’s shadow to pay back her debt. Conclusion is: it is impossible to bring Alanre back to life.

However, Fengjiu agrees to help Shen Ye to revive Alanre. Well she doesn’t know it’s impossible, we can’t really blame her for that. Just as she promises this, Chacha comes in to tell Alanre that the king is dying. All that’s left to happen  all happens at the same time and way too ahead of what’s supposed to. Alanre is accused of poisoning her father and Xiangli He is sent to war (a war that was plotted by the queen and what seems to be her brother).  This time around, Shen Ye saves Fengjiu-Alanre himself instead of asking Xi Ze - well this time there is no Xi Ze anyways - and he takes her to war.

So now, knowing that the only way to end the dream is for Shen Ye to end it himself, Donghua and Moye goes back to get Fengjiu only to find out that she’s gone. As soon as they heard that she went to the battle field with Shen Ye, they both get extremely worried that Shen Ye would make Fengjiu use that same spell, which is really dangerous. With reason, because he indeeds thought her how to cast the spell and of course, Miao Luo, by a very convenient coincidence, is right there, ready to get her energy stowed in Fengjiu’s body back. Fortunately, Donghua comes right in time to save Fengjiu and before taking her away, he tells Shen Ye that there’s no way to bring Alanre back to life.

Then Donghua actually takes Fengjiu away and they bump, obviously, into Miao Luo.  Little fight, blablabla. This is so dragging arrrrgggh! I know you can’t beat the big boss like, right away, but why is she popping in and out of the story like that, this is sooooo annoying!

After learning that both Alanre and him are shadows, Shen Ye goes crazy. And then commits suicide which sends him right back into Donghua’s body, but I mean... could he chose a worse timing then that? I bet not. Since Donghua is unable to fight, Miao Luo takes back that energy from Fengjiu who’s powerless to do anything. Like sometimes, she’s a badass fighter, sometimes she’s just useless. I wish for a little more consistency.

Well, at least, they are finally out of the dream. Fengjiu is extremely weak from Miaoluo’s attack and Donghua entrusts her to Lian Song while he goes to take a look to the Miao Yi Yuan which would be the place he trapped Miao Luo in. He’s not gone for a long time and is right back next to his Fengjiu.

Eternal Love of Dream - Episode 46

Since Donghua is now living Fengjiu, there won’t be a chance for the beast thing to happen, if you remember how originally how Shen Ye confessed his feelings for Alanre. Therefore, the turning point for Shen Ye to confess his feelings for Alanre won’t happen unless Fengjiu forcefully creates an opportunity.  That’s twisted, I pity very much Fengjiu for having to go through something like that. That is not nice.

To keep the timeline as close as  it is supposed to be, Fengjiu organizes a meeting between Shen Ye and Junuo. However, this time around she decides to go too, so she can satisfy her curiosity. Her coming though makes Shen Ye quite puzzled. Junuo thanks Shen Ye for saving her, but he doesn’t accept her thanks, the one she should thank is her father. The only reason is saved her is for his bloodline wouldn’t go extinct since he owes him. Junuo thought he had feelings for her, maybe a little, but he says he only came to have a little bit of fresh air, not to see her. They fight a little because of Alanre and he says that if he wants to be trapped with Alanre, it has nothing to do with her.

When they are done, Fengjiu calls Shen Ye over and offers him some tea. And while they talk, she drops tea on herself, making Shen Ye rushing to check if her hand is okay. It is, because it was only cold water and she did it on purpose. She tries to make him say that he likes her, but he won’t so she confesses instead of Alanre. It finally works, but then Donghua comes in and sees FEngjiu in Shen Ye’s arms when he got flowers and all for her... This is getting complicated, too complicated...

Then Fengjiu tells Shen Ye that she’s not Alanre and he already knows that. He asks her who she is and reight then Fengjiu sees Donghua. She rushes running after him, leaving Shen Ye back there. She really doesn’t care about him. And here I have to wonder. Does Donghua not have any trust in Fengjiu? She has been following him like a little puppy for thousands of years and would even throw herself from the top of a cliff for him - she did indeed. I think, in my humble opinion, that he should know better to trust a little bit more than that.

Shen Ye thinks about how Fengjiu blamed him for never telling Alanre that he loved her and he thinks of the past. He is pitiful, really. In the history of dramas, he’s probably one of the most miserable characters I have seen.

Donghua comes back drenched by the rain. He lies on Fengjiu’s bed and doesn’t want Fengjiu to leave him. She says to let go, she’s going to prepare hot water for a bath. For him. So he won’t catch a cold. Then, while bathing, he says he still owes her too much - true dat - so he will forgive her no matter what, that since she feels empathetic for Alanre’s story she started to fall for Shen Ye. She’s like, stop saying nonsense, so he puts his head under water and since he suddenly stopped talking, Fengjiu is worried he might have fainted and rushes in to check on him. Right then, he comes out and asks her how Shen Ye is better than him. It’s interesting here that for once, Donghua is doubting that he’s literally the best and that maybe somebody might surpasses him in some way. Must be hard on his pride. Fengjiu just answers that even the thought of comparing never crossed her mind, not like this. When she tries to leave, he pulls her into the water. I don’t know why, but I think this is disgusting. Maybe I am being childish but... he’s like naked in there, washing himself... That’s no way to treat a girl. He’s even climbing over her, this is so improper. I’m not comfortable at all with this scene. He says he thought about getting rid of Shen Ye, but it would have made her sad. So she says she likes him too much to like someone else and kisses him on the cheek. Before submerging herself in water, probably to hide that she’s embarrassed? But Fengjiu darling, that’s even worse. I am going to sound like a granny but... It’s a BATH so of course he would wear NO clothes in there. Donghua is so happy, he touches his cheek before going underwater too. I guess this was supposed to be cute? But maybe I am too perverted? I don’t know, I was uncomfortable throughout that whole scene and I hope this was classified PG13. Anyways, they end up sleeping on the same bed and here I am pretty sure they did naughty things.

Oh yep they did. Oh wow. Well. She had wanted him for thousand years. Anways, she prepares some purple sweet potato pastry as it is the tradition when a couple erm... consumes the wedding for the first time. Do you say that in English? I don’t know. If there’s a better way, let me know in the comments, always looking to improve my English. They eat sneakily so nobody would know and basically eat the same piece at the same time, Lady and the Tramp style much. That level of cheesiness though. I don’t think it matches with Donghua’s personality at all, but what stupid things one wouldn’t do out of love.

Su Moye sends a letter to Donghua so he would come back to help and finish the magic tool, since it’s in the last stages of fabrication. However, doesn’t seem like Donghua is willing to leave Fengjiu’s side anytime soon.

Eternal Love of Dream - Episode 39

It’s Fengjiu and Moye. Fengjiu pities Alanre for being so disliked by so many people. While she was almost unconscious during the fire, she remembered a person with silver hair and purple clothes, it made her heart ache. She says that she’s a little jealous of Junuo because Xize takes such good care of her, while every time she faces hardships she’s always by herself. She feels sad for Alanre since she has nobody to love her and protect her. However she’s not any better than her. When Moye asks her if she hates him (probably talking about the guy she liked), she says she doesn’t, he’s a good person, it’s only that they aren’t meant to be. She just wish for someone that would show up for her when she faces danger. Donghua heard everything and when Fengjiu falls asleep for crying so much, he snatches her away from Moye’s arms.

When she wakes up, Donghua is by her side. He wants to take a look at her wound but she wouldn’t let him and tells him she’s Alanre and not Junuo. He gives her water, but she doesn’t want it and says she won’t say anything that happened to the king, he doesn’t need to worry for Junuo and Changdi. He asks her about the person she likes and she’s saying that she would rather not see that person again. Poor Donghua.

Donghua confronts Su Moye. He tells he came in the dream because of Lian Song. Donghua knows Moye took the place of the Moye from this world. He asks him not to reveal his identity to Fengjiu yet and entrusts her to his care while he’s going to be away in Xize’s retreat.

Lian Song even though he doesn’t know what is taking them so long believes Donghua will bring Fengjiu out safe and sound and convinces Xiangli Mengand Yan Chiwu that everything will be fine.

Moye invites Fengjiu to eat grilled fish together. But he actually doesn’t even know how to cook it, so Fengjiu has to teach him. He also got her porridge and the fish was from Donghua. Fengjiu is wondering why all of the sudden Xize cares so much about her.

The Biyi bird king is bored and Shenye suggests that they have a look at the next meteor shower with the princesses and host a banquet at the same time. The king likes this idea.

Fengjiu asks Moye if he has found Donghua yet. He lies that he haven’t. Right then Shenye comes and sees Fengjiu feeding cakes to Moye. It makes him think back of when Alanre was still a kid. He also fed her cakes. He came to invite them to the banquet organized by the king that same night. Does nobody finds it weird that Shenye and Xize looks exactly the same? I mean except for the bad wig. I mean in Eternal Love, they all took at least once Ye Hua for Mo Yuan, it’s basically the same here, no? Oh well. It’s magic hahaha.
