An orange fell from his hand to the floor when he saw her. Benny had told Gabe that Alara was back in town, but to see her in the flesh after so long was an entirely different feeling. She was making her way to the register, so he quickly ran across the store to her queue. Fuck. She was at the front. It was like a scene from a movie. As soon as he arrived, like four other people did at the same time, so he was behind her.
"Excuse me..." Gabe said softly, but no one budged. "I need to help my wife," he added, flicking his head towards Alara. The people immediately let him through, and he stood behind her in the queue, smirking. He knew she would be pissed, but she wasn’t running off again. Not this time.
