SRL Horology department here! This new device appears to track the passage of time! More research is required, but feel free to take an initial look!
The Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo has 7 tracks from various modes in Splatoon 3! If you select Salmon Run, a familiar tune will play when the clock hits the set time. If you stay in bed too long after the initial alarm, it'll trigger an XTRAWAVE.
What Nintendo thanks we want: overpriced alarm clock
What we actually want: fucked up pre-release pokemon
Volgintendo be like
I was gonna put this in a reblog of this post
but it won't let me put the video in the reblog, so here - this alarm clock is one of my new favourite things now. (Video further down)
Nintendo's alarm clock is called Alarmo tm and I LOVE IT.
There's a sleepy sounds setting w/ nighttime noises, and when the hour of the clock changes there's cute little animations and sounds to the theme- botw has the sound of heart containers filling up the time.
So what Alarmo does is it wakes me up in the morning to nice video game sounds! and music! Alarmo is interactive, by which I mean motion sensored.
A character icon appears on screen! From the games, it's cute. Moving around enough will snooze it, music plays all around, and the character will pop back in multiple times. If at any point you get up, confetti falls across the screen and victory music plays. Yayy!!!
But then.
Sometimes Alarmo loses its patience. After so many times snoozing, Alarmo sends a boss enemy to scream at you. If Nintendo can't wake you from your sweet dreams, they will come for your nightmares.
And if you get up and then get back in bed, the loading meter starts 'If you don't move, the alarm will begin again.' -at first this is a simple notice. But when the guardians laser has already struck you down, it becomes a vile threat.
Nintendo practically installs a fight or flight response in gamers with certain enemies. Nintendo found out they can take advantage of this to psychologically manipulate people into getting their ass out of bed. I am very grateful for this, as I generally struggle with getting up. However it is also terrifying.
A happy barking Bow Wow is replaced with a roaring Bowser. Koroks happily singing in Korok Forest is replaced with a guardian laser and the sound of Link's screams
And if you fail to get up within an hour? if the most alarming (heh) music Nintendo can throw at you it isn't enough?
The game over theme plays. It is DEVASTATING
I have NEVER been more determined than to always wake up than with Alarmo. A lot of people criticised Nintendo for the price, but It Sure Works. like I am sorry, there is a point which my sleep disorders and health issues have no hold over me when Bowser is snarling at me periodically. And the one that starts with the beginning of breath of the wild, with Zelda literally going 'Link, wake up.. wake up Link' mystically in your ear is just funny
Video!
Also here's a Link fhebdhxbv to it on the nintendo website- 🔗 you can click find retailers, OR just search 'nintendo alarm clock/ alarmo' whatever, or search on the nintendo website Nintendo.com 'alarmo' and find it, idk I had several people ask how to find it! So uhh there's how you find it if you wanna buy it
While not an idea I would've thought of, it is hilarious to have Botw Link being showered with confetti as someone gets out of bed
but I am glad for it! Waking up is something to celebrate, and besides, coma boy certainly gets how hard it is to wake up sometimes.
tagging my peeps who wanted me to expand on the clock yeah it's been months dw about it - @ghosthoard @hero-of-the-wolf @artemistorm @esthelle-wanders @crazypandagirl-fandom-writer
It's great I love my Alarmo
