im 15 episodes in to legend of haolan and i can say that........ yanxi palace was better
granted this isn’t a bad show but idk. feels like nothing... really happens? it’s got a formulaic feel to the episodes, not any real overarching plot that i can see, which is wild since i’m 15 episodes in. i mean yeah there’s the whole “i want power and you’re going to help me get it and i’ll help you fulfill your goals in return” but like. Why? power for power’s sake?? and what does haolan even want??? and the li matriarch never even showed up to see her daughter after she was imprisoned... did she just fall off the face of the earth or smth??? she was such a staunch ally in the earlier episodes and then she just Never Came Back
yanxi was similar wrt the formulaic stuff i suppose but the stakes just felt higher. in hao lan everything seems to have no consequence because the king has like zero object permanence. once an issue is resolved he just forgets about it and the cycle continues. the actors are phenomenal and the characters are interesting but it seems so repetitive..... yanxi actually had consequences that STUCK.
sighs... im gonna have to find something else to watch. might come back to this one in the future though
mmmm just had a staredown with the mouse that lives behind our oven as it scurried around our counter 8)
it ended when I whispered “bitch” at it and it bolted back into the oven. so that’s great. lies down
@faithcrashed , from shannon: "is there even an 'us?'"
sayid's heart breaks at that, and at how shannon doesn't so much as glance back at him when she asks. he's been following her for what feels like hours-- somehow shannon has gotten it into her head that vincent will lead her to walt. she insists that she doesn't need sayid and at a certain point, it appears to him that she will say anything to get him to go away, even if it's personal. even if it hurts. but he refuses to leave her alone, refuses to be the one to let her get herself hurt-- or worse.
he doesn't answer at first. it's now that he recalls a similar question that she asked late last night, as they laid together. he'd responded then with a joke that he knew would make her laugh-- in case the idea of a 'them' was too much, too soon. but he'd made her laugh and it was a beautiful sound. shannon has to know. a little over a month, they've gotten to know each other, and sayid likes her. he'd do anything for her.
he loves her.
"shannon..." sayid starts with a sigh of her name, like he often does-- not out of exasperation. she's familiar, on his tongue, and he only prays that the words that follow come as easily to him. that reach her when he cannot, his eyes trained on the back of her head. "if you wish to talk about the specifics of our relationship, then let's. let's return to our camp, where it's safe... then we'll talk."
temptation to use AI to get the cover letter to fuck off very real
me during the day: haha I dont talk to myself of course not. thats wild. id never do that. I dont need to do that at all.
me at 2am, spiralling and on the verge of tears: RITZZZZ WHAT DO I DOOOOO
