ALSO LATE but Top 10 Eps/Free Albums
Lots of good music has been crafted this year. Too much for just a top 10 of albums or songs. So I put together this list of EPs which have some cracking songs on and shouldn't go amiss, as EPs often do. A few of these are even available to download free, which means there's no excuse not to go and get them. The list is in no particular order.
Fever Fever // Native Colour // Beautiful EP, you will fall in love immediately. No more needs to be said.
Lecrae // Church Clothes Mixtape Vol. 2 // This was at number one on iTunes albums chart even though it was being given away for free by Lecrae at the same time. Needless to say this deserves your attention and a listen.
Owl City // The Midsummer Station Acoustic EP // I'm an Owl City fan, not everybody is. Some nice stripped back versions of songs from his latest album along with some new treats. I think it is difficult not to feel happy listening to this EP.
Hudson Taylor // Osea // Harry and Alfie are finally, rightly getting some credit for their music. They had their first headline tour at the end of 2013 and I was privileged enough to see them with my friend. They are flawless live and write some 'delicious' songs.
Lewis Watson // Some Songs With Some Friends // Lewis Watson is also finally getting his due credit it seems. He covers Everything Everything's, 'The Peaks' with Kimberley Anne and it is hauntingly pretty. EP features Hudson Taylor and Gabrielle Aplin too..
Lauren Aquilina // Sinners // Lauren Aquilina has a massive internet following despite little airplay, so she's good. Laueren is releasing a trilogy of EPs, of which the third comes out March 2014. Her voice is wonderfully unique and her character easy to like.
The Ember Days // More Than You Think // Christian music breaking the confines of stereotypical sound yet keeping the lyrics meaningful and encouraging.
JAWS // Milkshake (and) Gold // If you like Peace or Swim Deep, you'll like Jaws. I just really like them.
Alaskan Faction // Nights In The Brakelights // Fresh Indie Pop from my home town Nottingham. It's catchy, dancey and sure to change your mood. I first heard them when they supported San Cisco in October and have enjoyed them ever since. This is their debut EP, so I'm excited to see where this year takes them.
Social Club // Summer Of George // Last but by no means least. Marty and Fernie, taking the world of Hip Hop by storm, especially amongst Christians. Their lyrics are refreshingly honest, beats bezerk, attitudes admirable and following, immense. After releasing their album, 'Rejects', they gave away some more music for free on this album, how kind! Go get it.
