Delusion Angel
We speak like strangers--- Short sentences of shallow conversation Its strangeness stirs my sadness I’ve known you for years Don’t you know me? Don’t you know me by now? We are always a bit too rough, never polished--- Like the revision of a poem--- But we are an epic And we can draft for centuries Don’t you know me? Don’t you know me by now? Our story is a pendulum of authenticity Its truth carries a weightless breeze While its falsities shatters the illusion Are you real today? Don’t you know me? Don’t you know me by now? Our lines are shallow in the river bed And effortless in the flow of its water We are two twigs on the same branch Caught in the current together Don’t you know me? Don’t you know me by now? We begin to walk the miracle mile Then fall off the heavenly highway I’ll crash right back down to earth with you Then I’ll start back on the stairway to heaven Don’t you know me? Don’t you know me by now? You want to paint the canvas of the world While I want to dive into the ocean of reality It’s beautiful And it’s true Don’t you know me? Don’t you know me by now? Oh baby with your daydreams You are a delusion angel Your outlook is a false reality to me My visage is an illusion to you Don’t you know me? Don’t you know me by now? Our stanzas stand cold Our writing speaks slowly We’ll wallow in conjoined pity We can never be over Don’t you know this? Don’t you know this by now?
