Alastor and his Chaotic, Antisocial charisma...
Firstly Alastor is not constantly cold and aloof — Alastor is a surface level social person. We see this in both the flashback of his human life and in how he interacts with others in Hell. He is very good at people, but not necessarily good at closeness. But most of that sociability is presentation alone because is a role he controls, one where he decides how much of himself other people are allowed to receive.
It’s mostly the surface of connection: the rhythm of conversation, the performance of politeness and mannerisms, the little power games hidden in social rituals he clearly loves. He likes being admired, listened to, even needed (we see this in his irritation at Carmilla saying nobody really cared that he was gone for 7 years).
What he doesn’t enjoy is the reciprocity, vulnerability, and the possibility of being known beyond the version of himself he has curated, and that is where he becomes cold or evasive or cruel.
I truly don’t believe Alastor is antisocial at all (antisocial personality disorder, maybe, but a presented extrovert nonetheless).
He is highly social, observant, charismatic, and drawn to environments where he can be seen, but he is surface-level because he treats social interaction as something he can master rather than something he has to ever emotionally surrender to.
Also that what makes his relationship with husk so interesting too, bc Husk knows how to read people. Maybe he lost to Alastor bc at the time he couldn’t read him as well, but just the way Al overreacted after Husk mentioning “I’m not the only one in a leash” says so much!!!
