Urgh, I really hate the fact we can’t leave a reply to posts anymore. Anyways, here’s some responses to the reblogs of my little opinion post (spoliers for KOTFE through ch. 10):
@frauzet - I do agree that the whole conversation between Lana, Koth, and the Outlander where they speak about Valkorian/Vitiate lacks a lot. Yes, Valkorian was different on Zakuul and yes, Koth like many followed their beloved Emperor and were devastated when he was killed. Yet he was willing to free Valkorian’s killer? That made little sense to me even given what Arcann has been doing and that the Outlander is supposedly the key to defeating him. That leads me to believe there must’ve been some conversation between Koth and Lana about who the Outlander was and why he/she killed the Emperor. Again this is all speculation on my part and I could be grossly mistaken.....it does happen. It just doesn’t mesh well with me regarding Koth’s character.
I also agree that Koth wants to save the civs (right off the bat when you have the choice to stop the reactor or let it blow) and that’s why he defected in the first place. However, Rhianna used Valkorian’s power at every chance (she’s fairly LS for a SI, but I was really curious about what happens....and she has used power from a Force Apparition before) and Koth seemed excited about the fact that she could access Valkorian’s power. Even when all those innocents were killed on Assylum, it was Lana that was uneasy, not Koth. I agree that if the Outlander starts killing innocents by choice, it’s a fine line between him/her and Arcann.......but what’s so different between those innocents dying on Assylum and those that died on Zakuul? The Outlander chose to access Valkorian’s power just as he/she chose to let Kaliyo do her thing. Both events led to innocent lives being lost, yet Koth hardly reacts to the first, but the second drives him away. To me it’s a bit hypocritical. Again, I’m likely reading too much into this stuff and could be completely off the mark.
Jadely didn’t romance Koth, so yikes, I can imagine what that conversation was like between Smilo and Koth. Makes me want to take Rhianna through it since she did romance him. Idk if I can bring myself to make the DS choice again though.
@i-call-it-hewie- I’m going to quote your post here since I hadn’t even taken this into consideration:
“ Normally, I can make an excuse for Koth on the part that he still doesn’t believe that Valkorion = Vitiate and the whole Ziost thing (then again, Koth probably was never even aware that anything existed outside of the Eternal Empire until they attacked the Core Worlds). That whole thing reeks of the shtick where you try to warn a friend about becoming friends with someone who’s a known liar/abuser/all around rotten person, but they don’t believe you because their experiences with them, so far, have been positive ones. Cue frustration.”
I agree with this and it makes a lot of sense. People can have different sides that they show to different groups. I’d like to think that there would be proof of the things Vitiate did to Ziost that could be shown to support Lana and the Outlander’s claim. I understand that Koth and Senya knew a different man, but to ignore the possibility because they don’t want to believe it.......that’s worrisome.
Again, you completely nailed what was bothering me regarding the innocents killed on both Asylum and Zakuul and Koth’s differing reactions to those events. I wasn’t shocked by his negative reaction since from the start (when you have to choose to stop the reactor or let it blow) that he wants to save innocent lives, but what about those innocent lives on Asylum? Did those ones not matter? Why didn’t he have anything to say about that? In the very least he should’ve cautioned the Outlander on using Valkorian’s power like Lana did, yet he didn’t. So for him to go to that extreme after allowing Kaliyo to bomb Zakuul......it just didn’t sit right with me.
@siriusordo - Most of my characters are pretty LS, but I wanted to explore some of these DS options so what Jadely did was somewhat out of character for her. I agree, several of my LS characters wouldn’t touch Kaliyo with the proverbial 10 foot pole and it does seem pretty forced. I’m glad at least that with some of the Alerts, you do get the choice to not recruit people.
As for ch 11, I am both excited and nervous. Excited in the fact that we get to see my favorite grumpy Cathar (I’m finally going to take Mallay through the new content since she’ll get Aric back), but nervous at how that chapter is going to play out. We’ll find out soon though.....
