This is where the "Gromps" homage in the "Gon' E-Choo!" Sunday comes from: Pogo on February 22, 1953.

I wonder if Albert is trying to say thanks for Churchy's help. 

Of course, no-one could possibly expect what comes next...

We always knew you had potential for something good inside you, Albert.

...Unfortunately, it's currently Churchy.

Albert is like some sort of alligator-shaped rubber galosh, practically hollow from head to tail, into which other characters are regularly lost inside of.

This sort of thing happened all the time in Pogo - especially in the 40s and 50s.

All the time.

Do not doubt comic genius at work.
