Since d-9.com doesn't work on the Internet Archive, i tried to get it to work on my own, and this is all i got xD it doesnt really work on its own (i mean, without using Flash's "play" button(and, well, that doesnt do much either)), the text in the intro, as you've seen, is messed up, a lot of jpgs and other files r missing, etc etc. all of this bs isnt even easily available, i had to look inside the swf file to figure out what files it actually needs, then run a script that would look through the Internet archives database for these files specifically.....i dont remember the exact number, but i think i got only around 100 files from ≈470 (but a lot of those are map tiles and just audio of already written stuff).
At least i could read some of the text from the website like the little "behaviour recommendation" popups you can see in this video. There's also rules. They're not too interesting, although it appears they are written for a time when the prawns interacted with people more:
Non-humans are restricted from all small-capacity public places.
In large-capacity public spaces, non-humans must sit in designated seats or viewing areas.
Refrain from excessive use of tendrils in public restaurants.
But:
All areas outside District 9, except for work zones, are restricted to non-humans.
So what restaurants could they be going to -_-?
Also:
Non-humans must bathe in an approved housing facility at least once every two weeks. lol. Why do they need to bathe!
Please keep creative expression private. Art, photography, and other crafts found in public will be destroyed. Sad little prawns:(
Non-humans must avoid contact of tendrils with other Non-humans in public. kiss???
Lots of rules for tags:
Non-humans must make identification tags visible to humans at all times.
Identification tags are required to remain on the non-human for the duration of its life.
Non-humans must be given an identification within one day of hatching.
Non-humans found guilty of tampering with a tag will be taken into custody.
Any identification tag found to be a copy of another tag must be replaced.
Non-humans are required to have their occupational status displayed in a stamp on the forehead.
They're not really mentioned in the movie but i see how Neill reworked this concept a bit and used it in Elysium,,
And not even humans are safe from MNU:
MNU reserves the right to designate any human area as a residential, industrial, government or MNU zone at any time.l
Also:
Non-humans must be treated with respect. Actions deemed abusive will be dealt with by the MNU officials or animal control personnel accordingly (i.e. shoving, yanking tendrils, kicking.) i don't think most of MNU follows these much... animal crontrol??? fuck off
Well, i think that's all i wanted to mention for now.
(also, i now know that some of these rules are available to read on the wiki)
Luckily there is a video online showing a bit how this site is supposed to look like, so I'm not too sad. I might come back to this later,, i just wish it worked easily >< take me back to 2009
