The Dawn Express (1942)
A very, very low budget mid-WWII B movie quickie reminding everyone of the dangers of spies and saboteurs. In this story Nazi spies use kidnapping, torture, sex, and threats to loved ones to try to obtain a secret formula that doubles the energy output of gasoline. Two scientists are targeted. Will either give in? What will they sacrifice to keep the secret out of German hands?
The movie is cheaply made using minimal sets and routine costumes. The actors are OK but no one shines. There's a spy posing as a blind man who does the most awful imitation of someone using a cane for the blind I've ever seen. But at least that cane houses a dagger.
Probably not worth watching except as an example of low-budget second-feature U.S. war propaganda.
