Broken Souls World Building 1
Broken Souls is a modern fantasy that focuses on the themes of trauma and healing.
Taking place on a planet called Alchement, Ikura helps others in disaster and war zones while learning to deal with her own past.
Three sentient species call Alchement home; huorans (humans), eukaryans, and aquariuns. Eukaryans closely resemble humans with animal traits. These traits often show with, ears, tail, and skin markings that reflect the animal’s coloration, certain races of eukaryans have other treats … such as a cobra’s hood or deer’s antlers. Aquariuns dwell in the oceans. Aquarians on the highest-level look like they have a light aqua scale for skin. They look like humans except for three-inch gills on their head and webbed hands and feet. On the second level are more have an iridescent quality about them. They are humanoid but are frailer and have the ability to control their colors.
Alchement is named for the magical element mined from volcanoes that allows for the creation of magi-tech, potions, and charms. Extremely dangerous to mine and exceptionally slow to renew itself, the demand for alchement grows only higher as supply is starting to run low. Wars breaking out over countries that have active or super volcanoes. Often the country itself ends up just being the battle ground for its much larger neighbors.
