aldora89 replied to your post: Hey y’all still fucking ecstatic over Diane Duane...
*vicariously flails in ecstasy with you* Now if only Duane were in charge of the new movies…
*still bouncing with glee about it* Seriously though...I would pay all the money in the world if I had it for that to happen.

oh wow, the gumption of him yeah, lets compare naked Kirk getting laid on equal terms with Gaila to the camera panning up and lingering on a half-naked (just because) Uhuras backside and having her deliver her plot-relevant info like that.
Yeah I know right?
Ah, but that IS what I meant! People seem to fear that S&D will "lose something" if they change in any meaningful way, to the point that they lose sight of the harsh realities of canon - sound familiar? Because like you said, heaven = dystopia, Cas can't fix that, and he is so different from everyone there in a dangerous way. Losing his powers, a tether to that dystopia, feels akin to Sam quitting demon blood to me. If anything, he'll be more "Cas" and less "easily abused plot device." :)
Oh, no, that’s not the arguments I’ve heard! Like I say, the ‘losing something’ is akin to what Sam loses of himself when he tries to play house with Amelia and cuts off from the supernatural world completely, or when Dean tries to be nothing but a grunt and denies/represses the other aspects of himself. People argue that Cas losing his powers and/or cutting off from Heaven would be the same as that, NOT akin to Sam quitting demon blood. Which are the arguments I understand and sympathise with, although I disagree that losing powers and/or leaving Heaven is actually like that for Cas.
If people are arguing that Cas losing powers and/or being human and/or leaving Heaven is akin to the gradual and meaningful development of Dean and Sam we’ve seen this season and that that is causing Cas to lose something, or be OOC, or that it destroys his character, like people have been arguing has happened to Sam and Dean this season, then I don’t agree at all! Gah if you have been hearing THOSE arguments. Guess I’m lucky when it comes to the angel!Cas fans I know :)
And yes yes - removing or lessening Cas’ powers will allow him to be less of a plot device, I agree there, which will be nice! (although I remain critical of the writers for allowing Cas to become such a plot device as opposed to ‘blaming’ Cas powers for that - the writers define his powers for goodness sake, they can make them non-plot-device-y if they want to, which means that angel!Cas can BE more than a plot device if the writers want him to! :P)

Actually, if you’ve noticed, the past few trailers have been… better? Included that shot of space porn (the nebula face-off)? Showed Alice Eve talking? Apparently they switched marketing companies at some point, and that’s why.
Yeah, like I've said I've disliked most of the advertising (this last trailer has been great and I did like another one). If that latter marketing company did do the last trailer, they should stick with it.
I'm writing part 2 of that big ol' destiel meta today, focusing on a little bit of previous season history, and my guesses for future developments following trope logic, and I'm having fun with it. I'm digging through tropes for the better part of this afternoon, so if you guys have any you want to bring to my attention, now's the time. crankystalfos, aldora89 and satanwinchester, I'm crediting you! <3
