Yeah, I mean I love to look at Sebastian’s armour being much more than physical protection. I do think in a lot of ways it’s a symbolic protection too. Like you said, this guard against who he was, and also this way to project outwardly who he is now to others.

And I think beyond just being a gift from his father, I always saw it as meaning a lot to Sebastian because he took being given this armour as a sign that his father was proud/approving of him (or at least his act of taking his Chantry vows). A lot of that is headcanon territory, but with his background, I can’t see him often gaining his father’s favour/approval or even acknowledgment very commonly.

I have a lot of feelings about his armour too.

Same here. (Man, I wish I hadn't deleted my old blog, I had lots of Sebastian head-canon flailing, including the importance of the armour.)

I always found it a little telling, and a little sad, that while everyone makes fun of his armor (even Merrill, which is a bit much considering what her romance armor looks like), no one asks him why he still wears it.

And I've always assumed it's largely because, not only is it one of the few things from his past he's still got, it's one of the even fewer things from his past that has positive connections to his family.

that last paragraph is a definite ‘yes’. the thing about sebastian is that he enjoyed being a wild child. his exploits were thrilling to a point that’s easy to get addicted to. but he’s found a greater purpose, and he knows it isn’t going to be easy to adhere to this newfound purpose, but he has to, for the good of kirkwall, for the good of his friends, for the maker who’s shown him the way, and most importantly, for himself.

he is an obsessive sort, throwing himself into his current fascinations with a fervour that usually defines the extremely pious or the extremely debauched. he knows this. he chooses piety. and every day, debauchery attempts to drag him back.

THAT SAID

I think that's a really good point, that he's still a very passionate, driven individual. He choose not to be passionate in any physical sort of way, but that doesn't mean it isn't still there as part of his personality.

that doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with her spirit guardian-thing, though. that just has to do with her and her unshakeable convictions.

btw, this isn't exactly a Wynne "argument" because you already know how I feel about Wynne. And it can make a very frustrating WILL YOU TWO STOP ALREADY playthrough when one also loves the living daylights out of Morrigan.

The original confession was kind of flawed - we met Anders before Justice, and we met Wynne after Faith. There is no way for us to know who Wynne was before Faith - her unshakeable convictions could come from a spirit. Or it could just be her.

But the spirits could amplify the convictions they both already hold - one from defying the circle by running away to defying the circle by killing templars, and the other from "i believe" to "I know."

F - What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom

Final Fantasy in general, since I was 11. (I'm 29 now, about to turn 30.) While I'm not really active at all anymore (I used to do AMVs, mostly for FF8 because I was able to get more quality footage from that game than the others), it's still my first fandom love.
