Pokémon Dexter's lifeblog#1
So, I have a lot of real life feels, so I'm placing it in metaphors that I and others can relate to.
Pokémon.
So, here goes nothing.
---
Once upon a time, there was a well-functioning Pokédex that belonged to a Pokémon Professor.
This average-functioning Pokédex was happily in love with a Luxray who often visited the professor's lab.
They were happily in each other's company for several months, but recently the Luxray's Pokémon Professor made a decision to release the Luxray, for his laboratory was not getting enough funds, and he had to release a few Pokémon that he could not longer take care of.
This was three to four days ago. The Pokédex got really sad and heartbroken, but it couldn't really do much, and neither could the Professor. So the Luxray was released. And that was that.
As a result, the Pokédex started to malfunction. It mixed up Pokémon entries. It misspelled Pokémon names. It just wasn't the same anymore.
Confused as to why his Pokédex started to malfunction, the Professor brought it to a repair shop.
"Ah I might as well be trashed." thought the Pokédex. "Life isn't the same anymore with the Luxray. My professor might as well get a new one."
As the Pokédex was lamenting, a ball rolled up to him.
"Hello," the ball went. "Why are you crying?"
The Pokédex told the ball about his story.
"Ah, well. I can fix that for you. You see, I'm a Master Ball. If you can pinpoint to me where your Luxray is, I can help capture him for you."
The Pokédex was so happy, it began to remember how to function again.
"Really? You can help me do that?"
"Of course," the Master Ball replied. "I come to the repair shop often to get upgraded so I can still perform at my 110%. Catching any Pokémon is my function. "
During the few days that the Pokédex and the Master Ball were in the repair shop, they shared lots of stories about different Pokémon they encountered in their travels, and bragged about the legendary Pokémon they met. They seemed to get along really well.
And suddenly the Pokédex started to feel funny again. It seemed like that it enjoyed the Master Ball's company even only after a few days.
"This is odd," the Pokédex thought to itself. "I thought that I only felt this way for that Luxray."
The Pokédex began to worry again. "Ah, maybe I'm being a horrible machine. I can't believe that I'm starting to feel something for the stupid Master Ball but I've only met him for a few days!!"
It started to glitch again. Once again, it had to undergo tests in the repair shop. If it failed again, it was going to be trashed.
"Ah, I'm such a slut." it went - even though it probably didn't know what a slut was, a lot of people seemed to say that. "Maybe, maybe I'm not supposed to feel anything for anyone."
It started to recall its memories with the Luxray. It started to glitch even more. It hated itself for liking the Master Ball. It hated itself for having feelings for an Item rather than a Pokémon.
A particular memory quickly flashed in its mind. It involved a scan of a regal-looking Serperior. The Pokédex always looked up to this Serperior, probably because it looked so damn regal all the time.
The Serperior in its memory spoke. "Do whatever you feel is best; not for anyone else but yourself. After all, you're the only one who can take responsibility for your own contentment."
There was something that struck that odd, emotional Pokédex. It knew what it felt, but why was it denying itself the truth?
"Well, I don't want to be labelled a slut." it said, again, not really fully understanding what the word meant, but just perhaps repeating it due to social norms.
And by the sadism of Arceus, the Master Ball decided to roll in.
"Hey, Dexter, why are you glitching again? I thought that you were all ready to go and we can capture your Luxray together."
At this point, the Pokédex could contain itself no longer. "Fuck it," it thought.
"I REALLY LIKE YOU MASTER BALL!" it screamed. "I REALLY REALLY LIKE YOUR COMPANY AND I WANT TO BE WITH YOU ON YOUR MANY TRAVELS AND CAPTURE GREAT AND AWESOME POKEMON WITH YOU BUT AT THE SAME TIME I ALSO WANT TO FIND MY LUXRAY AND BE WITH HIM BUT I DON'T WANT TO BE LABELLED A SLUT AND AND AHHHHHHH"
Once again, it broke down in tears. The Master Ball rolled itself closer.
"Dexter, I don't think you're a slut.... whatever that means." said the Master Ball. "And well, I kind of have the same feelings for you too. I mean, I know you really care about this Luxray and all, but I wouldn't mind exploring adventures with you and seeing new Pokémon.
....You're important to me Dexter, and I want you to know that. I promise you that we'll be together as long as you like AND we'll find your Luxray."
"Really? I'm not a slut?" it said, despite not really knowing what the hell that term meant.
"Yes. But you have to perform well in those tests so that we can go exploring."
Thrilled that it had been accepted by its new partner and without any guilty feelings of being labelled as a slut by society, it performed well and managed to pass the repair tests. And so began the new adventures of the Pokédex and the Master Ball.
THE END.
Credits to the regal-looking Serperior for pulling Dexter out of a jam.
