We are going to discover at some point that (the now dead) Hikaru was always in love with Yoshiki. He was just having the same problems that yoshiki had and STILL has, about coming out and accepting himself the way he is.
Probably Hikaru's father SPECIFICALLY told Hikaru not to do that ritual AGAIN. that it was NOT NECESSARY. But he wanted to do it ANYWAY, and probably for Yoshiki's sake. It would not surprise me if he climbed that mountain that day to ask for a wish, like his ancestor...
You see that at first when Hikaru and Yoshiki are little, Yoshiki tells him he wants to leave the town, and Hikaru gives him reasons to stay. But later is Hikaru the one that push Yoshiki to leave.
His father had told him to marry whoever he loves as quick as possible to protect them. Growing up may he realize that THAT was not an option for him and Yoshiki if they stayed in the town. May that be the reason for Hikaru changing his mind about Yoshiki staying in town.
But you know he may be hinting that he may leave WITH him... When he says "whenever you bring a girl I'm going to be there" jokingly... Yeah jockinly
IF WE FIND OUT that HIKARU (original Hikaru) died in the mountain, trying to protect Yoshiki, I'm NOT GOIN TO BE OKAY.
if YOSHIKI learns this too, IM NOT GONNA BE OKAY EITHER
