Here’s the aforementioned roadtrip transition pages! Scenes from the three day journey to Wolde.

@siberianchan planted this idea seed in my messages and I couldn’t get it out of my head.

Alec doesn’t know Kari well enough if he really thought she wouldn’t join in the roasting.

(The plot twist is that Alec has been accidentally calling her mum for years this is just the first time he slipped up in front of the goon squad.)

*bangs fists on table* AU AU AU AU in which Seregil was never banished and Alec was raised by the Hâzadrielfaie.

So instead of killing Ireya, the Hâzadrielfaie are more merciful and just make her vow to never see Amasa again, allowing her to raise Alec in their society. As he gets older, Ireya sneaks Alec down from the mountains so that he can know his father, visiting as often as possible over the years. Amasa still dies when Alec is sixteen, but having seen the pain that the segregation caused his family, and glimpsed what the outside world is like, Alec wishes that the Hâzadrielfaie would end their self-isolation. 

Flash forward some years, the Hâzadrielfaie are attacked by a group of Plenimarans led by Yhakobin who is obsessed with creating a rhekaro and needs Hâzadrielfaie blood to do so. They manage to fight him off but not without devastating losses, and it’s obvious that Yhakobin intendeds to come back and keep besieging them until he gets what he wants. Out of desperation they pack up the whole clan and flee to Aurenen, hoping that their estranged kin will protect them. The Aurënfaie clans all come together for a gathering to decide what to do, which is when Alec meets Seregil.

 Seregil, who never killed that man and therefor was never banished and has lived more or less a normal life in Aurenen, and is therefor a bit less hardened and more immature than in canon. They form an immediate connection but COMPLICATION! Since they were never banished, Seregil and Ilar continued their romantic relationship and eventually became talímenios. But it’s been rough sailing, while he was sweet and kind while they got to know one and other, Ilar’s less than perfect nature slowly showed itself and he proved to be a jealous and possessive lover with more than a few toxic tendencies. There is genuine love between them (there had to be or else the bond wouldn’t have formed) but where Ilar and Seregil really aren’t good for each other. Seregil falls in love with Alec while still bonded to Ilar oooh noooooo.

Fun fact: since arriving in Aurenen the Hazadrielfaie (and Alec in particular as the only hazad ya’shel and a certified hottie) have been getting a lot of stares, and he’s been responding by waving at literally everyone he catches staring. Seregil isn’t as special as he thinks he is.

Little bit shorter than usual for the sake of getting a page up, and that seemed like a good place to break.

(I never really understood why he dislocated his thumbs to get out of the chains when he had a lock-pick in his boot. So that’s why I added some of the dialogue in the previous pages, so that the guards would tighten his chains to the point he couldn’t reach his boot.)

Been having some Feelings™ about Alec Two-Lives.
