I finished the Nightrunner series about three or four months ago and I haven’t been the same since. My heart aches for those books, I yearn to be lost in the realm of nightrunning and watchers again. And it kills me that fans of these books are so few in number. I have never read a more compelling, all consuming fantasy story in my life. I miss Seregil, Alec, and the others like close personal friends. I try to dull the ache by reading other works of Flewelling’s but it isn’t the same, the other books are good don’t get me wrong, but Nightrunner series is just too dear to me. Yes I will be rereading the series soon. Anyways, if you love fantasy and queer media, give these books a perusing.
I've been rereading my favorite book series and thought it was time I drew some fanart. But I also got sick and this is all I can give for now, a quick 10 minute sketch of Seregil. I love this series so much, and will be drawing more for it, but first, I gotta get better.
It’s Nightrunner November, time to find my boys again!
I'll be honest - I don't remember where I found this. I believe Lynn Flewelling posted it on her Facebook page at one point and was quite pleased with it.
Anyway, this is Seregil's Harp, composed by Joel Pierce and performed by Liska Yamada. Pierce says its inspired directly by Seregil and the Nightrunner books.
Flewelling herself seems to be a fan (source)
do you ever think about how seregil clearly thinks he loves alec more than alec loves him. he sees himself as lucky, almost, that alec loves him back. i think this is really made clear by the conversation they have at the beginning of shadows return when seregil asks alec if he wants to have kids, says that he'd be fine if alec went to someone else to have kids, etc, and was genuinely surprised when alec got mad and said that he only wanted seregil. like seregil wouldn't have been surprised or angry if he wasn't enough for alec. like he sort of expected that he wasn't.
and also when he runs away to leave forever and/or kill himself at the end of stalking darkness- he's torn up by leaving alec but he doesn't think he matters enough to alec that alec wouldn't eventually move on from his loss.
