alright so here's the deal
people bitched at me in August when i interpreted Gaga's implications of ARTPOP not having a set meaning (ie fun, bubblegum pop), even though it turned out to be true—at the time, at least, because in late November, Gaga herself said
Its release got pushed back because she decided to take the time to put more meaning into it and make it more personal, instead of putting out basic ass shit in a desperate attempt to get back on the charts.
It should also be noted that between those two announcements of "no meaning" and "meaning," the Body Revolution (self-image), the election (fight for equality), and the Perez betrayal (loss of friendship/trust) happened, all of which could have easily injected much more emotion back into her writing than simply "My artpop could mean anything"
So it's funny that even though she's clearly doing more with this album than she originally planned, and I'm interpreting it as such, I now have people bitching at me for taking it too seriously. Like don't bitch at the teacher for teaching what you believe to be 'incorrect' if you're not even paying attention to the subject
