"why would he ever like someone like me?"
Kahelle may like looking cool when she wears fashionable clothes and when she plays on stage when she's not caring for her ducks and the farm, but deep inside, she isn't the most confident girl. She was not the popular kid growing up, and maybe was even bullied for her weight.
She expresses herself through fashion and music, but really, she's not very good at being straightforward with her feelings. She's the type to hide her feelings forever, silently resigning from challenges she's never even tackled.
And Alex is one of those challenges. Initially annoyed with his superficial comments, already assuming what kind of person he was. Shallow, confident (maybe sometimes cocky), and good-looking. A man who never struggled with his appearance or popularity. And as they continued to run into each other, they talk and learn more about each other, feeling like two missing pieces that finally click together. Despite becoming good friends, Kahelle feels something more. Something more she's afraid to address, to express -- to even think about. Her insecurities come crawling back up, scaring her into detachment.
