Hi Alendron, how do you feel after becoming the overlord? Will you be annoyed by all the jobs you had to done?——Ulrica
Seeking a moment for himself, Alendron has cosied up atop the mountain spire, enjoying the sunlight warming his face. "Hm? Curious, aren't you? Judging by the voice, you must be Ulrica. I've seen watched some of your court sessions but we haven't met directly, have we? Anyway, you probably expect me to say I feel different, more powerful or maybe even less human but... I just feel like me? Well, me with more paperwork and the command over a nation. A bit different than enforcing Kyros' law. I can be glad I have so many allies helping me or I'd definitely be overwhelmed! Want my advice, Ulrica? Don't become an overlord overnight--the logistics are a nightmare."
9 and 13 for the physicality/characterization ask for Alendron (or whoever else you'd like)?
Huhu, thanks for the ask and sorry for the late answer. Number 9 led me down a research rabbithole and I learned some very interesting things about blind people and body language + facial expressions, knowledge I used to cobble together how I think Al would act.
9. How likely are they to use body language rather than words to express discomfort and other emotions?
Alendron doesn't rely much on body language (for communication) apart from natural reactions like yawning or flinching when getting startled.
Purposefully making eye contact is impossible for him, so that's off the table.
He wasn't born blind and had some time to pick on conventional facial expressions or gestures, however, employing them now feels less like authentically expressing something and more like mimicking what that expression should be. He also can't check what nonverbal reactions he receives in turn, so he prefers to be direct.
Alendron does sometimes frown or smile but those facial movements are often an automatic reaction rather than a means of communication and typically don't last long.
Also, he usually carries a cane or a staff so hand gestures are often minimal. He does, however, quickly tip his cane whenever his patience wears short.
13. What trait immediately draws them to other people?
Politeness and good manners. I can't stress enough how much of a culture shock joining the court and later being part of the conquest was for him. At home, he was used to being pampered and nobody would dare to be rude to him. The easiest way of getting into Alendron’s good graces is to be a cultured, well-mannered, individual sucking up to him. Al loves having his ego stroked.
Cleanliness and orderliness. Alendron has to rely on his other senses and thus can't stand when that leads him to unpleasant places. He particularly hates the sensation of thick dust against his fingers. He also can't stand people who stink (which is why he keeps Killsy at a distance. If only deodorant or air freshener existed on Terratus…).
A dirty sense of humour. Although Al sees himself above such frivolities, he has a pretty raunchy sense of humour. He himself would never make jokes of that nature (unless you get him drunk, psst) but he loves it when other people tell such jokes and will always snicker at them. His stance on Verse and Eb is basically:
"Goodness gracious, you're horrible, vulgar boors… Would you care to tell another joke?"
Fancy Fatebinder ~
My boy Alendron. Still not 100% how I imagine him ( I can't get his skintone right to save my life). Also messed up the torso, oh well... Love how the hair turned out though.

Ever since the trial, a question has been lingering in the back of Alendron's mind. No longer able to keep it locked away, he decides to have it answered.

*Please note that I don't have a beta reader-let alone a blind one with minimal light perception. I've done my research as best as I could and although the Face Touching trope featured in this fic is seen as overall cliché and cringy by the community, I felt the way it happens within the story avoids the common criticisms, along with the lack of visual descriptors aiding the scene rather than hindering it. I've included the tag for people who would rather avoid the trope either way.
But enough rambling, read for yourselves.

(Description contains spoilers for the end of Tyranny)
One night before the final battle against Kyros, Tunon goes for a nighttime walk.
Apparently writing is what I do now instead of sleeping, so, in a coffee induced fit, I wrote a little story about Tunon contemplating stuff. Considering my track record, that’s apparently something I really like writing about...
Another way to piss off Alendron is by pointing out that he can't read the way other people can.
Before losing his sight, Al took great pride in being able to read in a world where most people can't (even among Kyros' elite few people are educated), so some Scarlet Chorus nobody asking him what must've possessed Tunon to send them a fatebinder who can't even read really makes his blood boil.
Al isn't illiterate and he'll make sure to remind the people around him. He can read clay tablets (although depending on the handwriting it takes some time) and he can do clay etchings himself, he just usually doesn't have the time.
Little Alendron fact:
One way to royally piss him off is to rearrange the furniture in his room - something his fellow fatebinder trainees had to learn the hard way.
If everything is at its place, it's easier for Al to navigate his surroundings, to the point that he doesn't always have to use his cane. He's suffered many a stubbed toe because WHICH BRAINLESS @#$@$ LEFT THAT CHAIR IN THE WAY?
That being said, outside his chambers Al is almost never seen without his staff or his cane.
