milo lived for moments like these, he and his siblings merely coexisting peacefully alongside one another, companionable silence speaking more than words ever could. he looked up from the flowers he was putting into an arrangement, a gift for chiara, and gazed at alessandro for a moment. when he was younger he had viewed sandro's ease - with people and, seemingly, life in general - with admiration and envy in equal measure, but now that they were older milo knew that nothing was as black and white as it seemed. as the thought occurred to him his gaze traveled down to a bit of barely visible scarring on alessandro's neck and then, guiltily, it returned almost immediately to his task. "of all people, i should know better than to ask this question," he mused, breaking the silence, "but how are you feeling today?"

forming an emotional attachment to a random side character in this book and the author has created a habit of killing off said side characters. plus the main character (who kills kinda a lot of people) is not a fan of him.
