location: Cornaro Chapel of the church of Santa Maria della Vittoria. that’s right ur welcome @alessioxdante
The one thing about Rome that never seems to get old is hilariously the history. In actuality, if this whole coven thing really did work out, maybe he should consider some type of job at the museum. A lot of what they do is just wandering, listening with an iced coffee in one hand and an earbud in one ear like all the kids did. From Raphael’s frescoes to Bernini’s Apollo and Daphne, he’s got a busy day ahead of him. Except he doesn’t feel like going to either of those places, and he chooses another statue, another church. Bernini’s work was all over the place, they hadn’t gotten to see everything yet, but the Ecstasy of St. Teresa got a couple visits a week depending on his mood. It’s a swooning nun and an angel with a spear, and of course it’s beautiful, but it does something to him. A lot of art does, but there’s something about a nun describing being stabbed graphically and relating it to religious gratification that’s particularly angsty. He turns down the hall, idly taking sips from his coffee only to do a double take as he catches sight of someone passing in a mirror. The coffee cup almost slips out of their hand, almost. As they catch up to where the person is paused looking at the statues, Triss can’t bring himself to look at Teresa and her angel. Because that profile, the stature, it was too familiar but they hadn’t seen it in this life. Say something. “The pain is so great it made me moan.” He recites from memory, takes another sip from his coffee. Anything but that. “And the Catholics think everyone else is weird.”
