"Lilac, my baby boy, bring me back galaxies to my eyes, make me your baby girl."
The xx “I See You” a 40 minutes groupe therapy 2017-review Note : 8.5
@thexx are 2 guys one girl British alternative minimalist band, who made it into The spotlight in 2009 with Their highly acclaimed self-titled album the XX, one of the most sampled records in the industry. The follow-up was co-exist another big success for the band, especially after taking a new artistic path, it was followed by a worldwide tour. After those two records the band had what we call an "emptiness phase". its members split up all around the world dealing with all kinds of stuff Jamie with his solo debut, Romy in the "pop songwriting camp" with big names such as Max Martin and Ryan Tyder and Sim deals with alcoholism; we thought it’s the beginning of the end. But after the labor comes the newborn in this situation the newborn is "I See You" a musical therapy about growing up falling in love losing it, friends and redemption.
The album starts with the powerful, upbeat “dangerous” the Jamie xx work on this track is very obvious the song would fit well in his debut album in color a total club banger the energy that the drums and the bass delivery is similar to disclosures “boss” accompanied by a jazzy rain of trumpets which adds energy , induce an adrenaline rush in your veins and puts you in the dangerous atmosphere of this love, as Romy and Oliver sing it in the chorus "You are dangerous, but I don't care/I'm gon' to pretend that I'm not scared". Dangerous is followed by the second promotional single “say something loving” the song starts with the 1976 Alessi Brothers’ song “Do You Feel It?” sampled line “Before it slips away", it’s a song about a love that faded with time, the narrator in the song (Romy + Oliver Sim) is urging to save what's left of this love screaming over and over "don't let it slip away". The third song of the album is “lips” one of its highlights; a pop tropical-house pearl, featuring the Trio Mediæval, the song is a fine mix of genres and the "max martin" minimal lyric style, the catchy hook makes this song one of the best moments of this record. One of the most personal songs on this LP is “a violent noise” it’s a reflection of Oliver Sim's introvert personality and insecurity,it's also a reflection of his struggle with alcohol, the denial, he lived in refusing to admit it and refusing the help of his childhood friends (bandmates Jamie and Romy), as he sings: "With every kiss from a friend/With everything I pretend not to feel/Am I too high? Am I too proud?» .Then comes “performance” a smooth guitar melancholic ballad, fully sang by Romy about a one-sided love, followed by replica a jazzy rock song influenced by the 80's rock scene such as the organic sound of the @smiths. One of the most pop, upbeat songs of the album is “I dare you” the song is a pop, radio friendly rhythmic dance track, the xx left their "minimalist" tag and delivered a 1989 Taylor Swifts “style” like track about an intense but short-lived passion or admiration for someone or something. The last song is “test me”; test me is Romy venting at Oliver as he conceded that he had some “harsh moments” with Romy because he has known her for so long and knows what can set her off. And Romy said that writing this song was cathartic and important to their relationship because it addressed feelings towards Oliver in the song that she was not ready to say to him directly. The group is in a better place now: they revealed in a profile that Oliver had been sober for a year at the time off I See You’s release, and all three members say they have gotten better at communicating. And they delivered a one of a kind album .
