Holy...I just saw what seemed like one of the most normalizing depictions of being a trans teenageer that I’ve seen in the mainstream, and it’s a commercial for YouTube. What?
It starts with Alex, presenting as male, finishing a normal teenage job, going home, and greeting his father. Then Alex goes into his room and starts to play music, and as the music plays he transitions to presenting as female (Makeup, clothing, wig) and it ends with her apparently leaving her room to go out.
And that’s it’s. It’s just normal, everyday day in Alex’s life.
This has apparently been out for a month now so I’m surprised I haven’t seen it before, but it’s amazing just how normal everything is. It just shows a teenager getting home from their job and dressing up to go out for the evening. There are thousands of videos of cisgender kids doing the same thing, but so few like this. This is something that is almost always denied LGBT teens, showing this normal life.
