okay. in at the deep end.

i feel like taylor could've been a really cool character - let me explain what i mean. when we were first introduced to taylor in s2, she was a self-assured, confident, sexy woman who made ruthless, cut throat decisions. she was an antagonist, and i really liked that about her. then, through s4 and 5a, the writers tried to get us as the audience to sympathise with her - they gave her a half baked at best back story which never really added to the story, nor did it serve the intention it was meant to. if anything, it made me like taylor's character less because that episode was about her trying to gain agency and autonomy when she was speaking to her dad, and claiming back her own story i guess. whereas we look at her actions in dosed, where she takes all of bobby's agency away from him, and the only reason the story never got published was because the station put a stop to it. so in s5, when they've tried to do a complete 180 on her characterisation, it just rubs me the wrong way.

tl;dr - i think taylor could've been a really good character if they'd maintained her as a strong, ambitious woman who knew exactly what she wanted and would do anything to get it.
