OOC post: so first off spoilers for the Black Widow movie ahead! okay so the Black Widow movie was fantastic! It met all my high expectations! Lol. One thing that really got me thinking though was Alexei talking about how Captain America was his foe in the 80s. So from what we know about Captain America in the MCU he was frozen from 1945 til 2011. So how could Alexei have know him? Alexai didn't seem old enough to have known Steve durring World War II.

In the comic Steve was frozen and unfrozen when convenient for Shield. They would have him fight in some of America's biggest wars and then when he was no longer needed or be had become uncompliant they would freeze him up again. Each time they froze him they would erase his memory of his battles for shield. My theory is this is what they did to MCU Captain America.

i'm fucking crying man because Alexei will never be over Kai, no matter how  much time goes by, no matter whom he meets and befriends and fucks, because he never got to say goodbye, never got to tell him how he feels. Because they had so little time, both as lovers and as friends, and he simply can't let go of those few months, this evening where everything fell apart. And he also can't let go of the way it all ended because it was so unfair to him that Kai went to jail, no matter that he fucking murdered that krogan. Because to him it wasn't murder, it was self-defense, and no matter what happens, no matter how old he gets, he'll never understand that he was wrong, that taking that krogan's life was wrong. he hates everything, he even hates himself, but he can't hate Kai, not for defending himself, not for leaving him, because he was his best and only friend and the only person he ever fell in love with. And even years after the war, years after he last saw him, when he can't even properly remember his face or voice or smell, he remembers how he made him feel. and sometimes, those memories are almost enough.

30 Day Drabble Challenge - Part 11/30

Staring into the abyss feels like staring into hell itself and he barely has time to grab Kai's hand, grip it so tight that he's almost crushing the other man's fingers, before his stomach is dropping and they are falling, the wind rushing past and teenage girls screaming behind them, Kai's fingers digging into his skin.

He screams – he doesn't even know why, he just does – and his hand is already feeling numb from all the pressure, but he can't help but laugh and look at Kai. The other man is looking uncharacteristically flustered, his eyes widened and mouth opened in surprise. Alexei has the urge to kiss him, grab his hair and pull him towards him, never letting him go. Instead, he yanks their joined hands in the air the next time they are plunging into the deep.

Kai is screaming obscenities at him now, things that his translator doesn't quite catch and Alexei is laughing again, wind rushing past his face, feeling free and alive and young. It's so silly, so immature, so perfect. It's like he's a teenager with his first crush again.

The wagon stops, his face hurts from grinning too much, and his heart is beating wildly in his chest. He steps out of the wagon with wobbly steps, hearing Kai snort behind him, no doubt being grace and body control themselves, and Alexei turns around to face the other man. His hair is tousled, not being as smooth and tidy as usual and his mouth is drawn into a small, private smile. He tries hiding it when he notices Alexei looking at him, rubbing his face with one hand and grumbling into it. “You almost deafened me with your goddamn screeching.” He snorts. “Look who's talking. You almost broke my bones.” Kai looks at him, one eyebrow raised in his trademark expression as he follows him away from the roller coaster. “Who says it wasn't my intention?” Alexei shakes his head, a small smile forming on his own face, mirroring the one on his partners as he takes Kai's hand in his own again, lazily intertwining their fingers. They walk in silence, neither of them having the urge to speak. Then long fingers are stroking over his knuckles, the gentle caress almost an apology, before they are given a hard squeeze again. He laughs.
