"A dating app? Are you that desperate?" Alexander asked, appearing literally out of nowhere behind you. His voice made you jump, throwing your phone up just so it could fall on the ground with a huge bang.
"You better pray for any God you believe in, cause if my phone cracked up the screen, I am punching your face," you hissed at him, heart still beating like crazy inside your chest, your cheeks flushing due to the embarrassment, "why are you home already? Didn't you have class the whole afternoon on Friday?"
"Cancelled," he said, falling on the other couch on your apartment, "so, a date? Looking for someone to take to Sam's party tonight? I thought you said you were not going."
"I am not going," you repeated yourself once again, for what looks like the eighth time this week. It is not you didn't want to go, but you were used to avoid any place that has both alcohol and your roommate, Alexandre Hadenberg, since the chances of you getting too drunk and spilling all the details on your crush for him are way too high for you own good.
When you moved to Berlin, you had to find somewhere to stay for a while. You had to admit, you never thought you would end up living with the school biggest fuckboy, but he needed someone to share rent with and you were hopeless at that point, thinking you would never find someone decent to live with. In the beginning, you thought he would hit on you 24/7. Instead, every day he had proven himself to be a gentleman and a really good friend - what you didn't predicted was the fact you were fall for that boy.
"Hmmm, since I won't be here, you will take the opportunity and bring someone home? That's..." he trailed off.
"Naughty?" you chuckled.
"Dangerous," he said, staring at the ceiling, "everybody knows the first date should be on a public space, you never know what kind of person you could find on internet."
His eyelids dropped as you got up and walked toward him. Once you were practically on top of him, you sat on his stomach, using his body as a huge cushion. He groaned but didn't make anything to move you, "you're right."
"Wow, that's a first," he rested his hand on your thigh. You could feel the heat burning your skin where he was touching.
"Can you imagine if I get someone like you on those apps? That would be terrible," you joked, trying to think about anything else but how badly you wanted to kiss him.
He rolled his eyes at you. The next thing you know, you changed your position, putting one leg at each side of him. You knew you were playing with fire, but you couldn't stop yourself. Instantly you felt your heart flutter and your stomach knot, the way he always made you feel every time you decided to be that close to each other. Some day were on his bed, talking about many random things, like aliens, trees and how plastic is ruining the oceans, on other days, you watched foreign movies on the couches while eating whatever he decided to cook that day.
This time, he put both hands on your knees, and you congratulated yourself for the hot weather and the shorts you decided to put on that morning, "let's go to the party, maybe I can help you get laid if you're so interested," he started to draw lines from your knee to the edge of the jeans fabric, all you could do was swallow hard, "or maybe... I can help you with that myself,"
You thanked God for his closed eyes, you don't think you would be able to hide the luxury from your face at that moment.
Doing the hardest thing you could do, you got up. "I was just messing around, you idiot, I am not that desperate," you defended yourself, "and to prove that to you, I will go to the party tonight and won't hook up with anyone," this statement made him open his eyes. Just like that, you had agreed to come along.
"Samuel will be heartbroken," his lips pursed in a close mouthed smile in your direction, "you know since you moved in with me, he is dying to, well... You know."
"I know, and I've already told you," you belted out, both of your arms outstretched in his direction, "I am not hooking up with my roommate's best friend," he smiled widely, "by the way, I need to pick something to wear," you said, suddenly changing the subject. There was not a single thing in this world that would collaborate for you and Samuel Fischer to be together, even if you weren't in love with his best friend.
"The party starts in 5 hours, y/n," Alex frowned.
"It means I don't have much time," you said, before kissing his forehead and heading to your room.
-
"I saw that!" Samuel blurted out, opening the door before you and Alex even knocked.
"What?" Alex asked, confused by his best friend reception
"You let her drive your car," he said, childishly, "why did you let her and not me? I am your best friend, dude," you rolled your eyes at his attitude, anxious to find someone more interesting to talk about then Samuel.
"Well, she is my roommate," Alex simply said, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, "the amount of hours she needs to bear me is higher than yours, I need to repay her somehow," you looked over him and you could feel a smirk forming on his lips.
"Hello to you too, Sam," you decided to divert your attention from Alex's lips.
"Hi princess," he said, changing his act to the fuckboy you were so used to, "I will pretend Alex didn't hurt my feelings but honestly?" he questioned, turning towards you. "I get him, I would let you drive everything you wanted from me, too."
"Gross," you said, passing directly through him and entering his house, while hearing Alex laugh on the back.
-
Three hours later of talking to people, drinking - not as much as you wanted to, because you were coming home with Alex - , dancing and watching your roommate talk to every single female soul on the place, you saw him and Samuel talking next to the bar and walked straight to them.
"I think this place will soon be lacking girls for you to hit on," you teased Alex, earning a grin from him.
"Maybe I should expand my options and start to hit on boys, too," he joked back, while pulling you closer and wrapping one arm on your waist.
"Dude, I would totally let you hit on me if you just let me drive your fucking car," Samuel told him, making both of us laugh. You could smell his expensive cologne he used before coming to the party, it was your favorite one by far. The scent added to the alcohol you've been drinking were doing wonder to your mind.
"Not happening, Samuel. Get over it," Alex said, his voice snapping you out of your deep thoughts.
"You know what? I feel eager to see the day where you will finally fall in love and turn your cold heart into a melted one," Samuel pointed at Alex, "Tell me, Alex, what is your type of girl? I will find you your soulmate," he told him, gesticulating the room around.
You both laughed to his question, but suddenly you realized it was the perfect opportunity for you to find out more about his taste on girls.
"Yeah, Alex, tell us," you complemented, escaping his grip and looking around.
He looked away embarrassed, and for a moment you thought he was going to ignore you both, but he locked his eyes on yours.
"She needs to be independent, and she can't be afraid to call me out when I do something wrong. Someone brave enough to fight for what she believes, and lazy enough to stay in bed with me all day, doing literally nothing. A chatty, annoying and sarcastic girl who is the most clever person I've met in my life, yet about some subjects, it's like she is totally oblivious," you noticed the way the phrases started to change. No more 'need to be'. He started talking about a real girl, and you felt your throat closing in jealousy. He has already found her. "Someone who has the most beautiful smile I've seen. She is just a good person in so many ways that always make me respect her that much more." he chuckled, looking at Samuel, "what do you think?"
"Wow, Alexander, who would've thought you are so romantic?" Sam teased him, "the way you said, it seems like you've already found her."
"Who knows?"
"Hmm, I will get something for me to drink, if you too don't mind," you informed them, feeling the defeat instantly creeping up on you as you forced yourself to let anything roll off your tongue. Knowing for sure Alex was in love with somebody else just put a bad taste in your mouth.
-
It took a few more hours so you two could finally leave. Doing your best to avoid Alex the rest of the party, you started talking to everyone who had a mouth, looking for a distraction - and a way to take Alexander off your mind. But as soon as you started talking to a cute boy named Jonas, Alex came and said he was going to call the night off. You didn't have another option than leave the poor boy and follow Alex to his car.
The whole trajectory you both stayed in a terrible silence, not wanting to disturb the other on their thoughts. It seemed it took forever until you saw the little building you both lived on. When you open the door, you thought you were going directly to your room, to put on some pajamas and think how would you deal with your recent discover. But Alex had other plans.
"What, y/n?" he questioned as soon as he locked the door. You were standing next to the couch that same day you were intertwined on him. The memory made your heart ached, even more now that you knew those kind of moments never meant anything for him as it meant for you.
"What what, Alex?" You looked over at him, sensing the seriousness in the air of the apartment.
"You've been quiet since we left the party, didn't say a single word during the way home," "What's going on?"
"It's nothing, I am just tired," you exhale heavily.
"No, you are not," he looked skeptical at your sudden tactic to wrap this subject. His bright brown eyes narrowed in your direction, eyebrows playfully scrunching. His voice cracked when he spoke, "It is because of how I described my type of girl, right?"
"No!" It totally was, but you wouldn't let him know about it.
He shook his head, "it is not my fault if you are my kind of girl, y/n! I am sorry if I had to describe you," he snapped. It took you a few moments until you actually meant what he had just said.
"Wait, you did what?" your throat closed up at the sudden confession, you eyes widening as he stared intently into your eyes, slowly walking towards you.
"You didn't notice I was talking about you?" he replied, his brows knitted on confusion, then realization when he understood what he had just done.
"WHAT? NO!" you screamed, completely in shook.
"I thought you were mad at me because, you know, we are not supposed to happen and-" he yelled back.
"No, you idiot! I am mad because I thought you were describing someone else!" you cut him off. His couple steps felt like miles as he made his way towards your downcast figure. Once he approached you, you could lightly feel his breath hitting your nose.
"Remember I said how you are the most clever person I know but can be extremely oblivious sometimes? This is what I was talking about, y/n," he smiled lightly, he pulled you so your bodies were glued at each other's.
"I hate you, Alexander," you whispered, his lips centimeters away from yours.
"I am crazy about you, too," he muttered against your lips, his hands quickly yet gently grabbed your face and brought your lips up to his softly. Your mind once again clouded with nothing but thoughts of Alexander. You kissed back, gently pressing your lips back against his, hands wrapping around his neck, to rest in that soft brown hair you yearned to tug on for months.
