Feeling VERY folk-metal on this #MetalMonday ! Concept albums are USUALLY terrible, but #eluveitie made one that is absolutely incredible. Story telling, sound and getting #alexandermorton to narrate was the key ingredients to one hell of an album. #uruzfit #helvetios
One Eye, a norse warrior finally attains his freedom after murdering his captors, and along with a young boy, joins up with a group of crusaders on their way to the Holy Land. They all end up in mysterious lands and come face to face with dangers they hadn’t anticpated. Pretty minimalistic, this one. Little to no dialogue, very few sets (but those Scottish landcapes - whoo boy. fun fact: though this is a Danish English language production, it was filmed entirely in Scotland.) The first scenes were like a weird 80s fantasy film or something, was definitely this odd modernistically historical scandinavian film. It seemed like such a harsh/bleak and brutal life, so cold, damp and windy, which contrasted really well with the scenes of them all in the boat in that almost claustrophobic, unmoving mist, the men were so cramped and overly large on that boat (is that really similar to how actual Vikings traveled? jesus🤦🏼♀️but i think they had slightly bigger boats though🤔) and so small in the great wide open landscapes, even the forests. Would definitely not want to cross One Eye, and I may need to check out more Norse/Scandinavian mythology. It reminded me of Aguirre The Wrath of God, and like Apocalypse Now/The Heart of Darkness a little bit. #MadsMikkelson #AlexanderMorton #StewartPorter #MaartenStevenson #MatthewZajac (as #MathewZajac) #GaryLewis #JamieSives (Jory Cassel!) #TseringDorjee #TashiDhondup #danish #NimbusFilms #adventure #drama #fantasy #netflixpurge #ssmovieof2017 writers: #NicolasWindingRefn (written by) #RoyJacobsen (written by) #MatthewRead (additional writing) director: Nicolas Winding Refn movie of 2017 number 29) #ValhallaRising
