I’ll Cover You (Alex Danvers Imagine)
Request: Hi, could I please request a protective!Alex Danvers? Maybe she meets pregnant/homeless reader late at night after a mission or in Alex's more rebellious days before the DEO and finds out that her parents kicked her out, maybe helping Alex realise that she needs to get back to normal (after Jeremiah disappears)? Like, the pair already knew each other and then meet again like this?
A/N: This took me way too long but I hope you like it! Also how have I not written for this cute cinnamon bun yet? Just look at her!
Warnings: Slight mention of homophobia.

You walk down the cold streets of National City trying to get home. You had been hanging out with your friends at a bar and now had to walk home. You shiver and cross your arms over your chest, trying to get warm. You hear quick footsteps behind you and slightly increase your pace.
Suddenly, someone grabs you and pushes you againts the wall of an alley. They hold a knife in their hand as they yell,"Money! Now!" You freeze as they hold the knife to your throat. "I'm not kidding lady. Money. Now." You're about to hand over your wallet when someone asks,"What do you think you're doing, punk?"
They turn around and you notice a woman standing there. "This is none of your bussiness, lady." "I disagree," she says walking closer to the mugger. She grabs the mugger by the collar and slams him againts the wall, a couple of feet next to you.
She punches the mugger as they raise the knife. The mugger manages to cut her arm but she throws to them to the floor. The mugger gets up and runs away. "That's why you don't mess with women, punk."
She stands in front of you and asks,"You okay?" You nod dumbstruck at what a badass she is. You look at her and immediatly recognize her. "Alex?" She nods and asks,"Do we know eachother?" You smile and say,"You probably don't remember me. (Y/N), ironicaly you saved me from a mugger a few years ago."
She smiles and says,"I do remember. You kind of helped me get my life back on track actually." "Really?" You ask shocked. "Yeah. A friend gave me a job and I got my own apartment. Honestly, I owe a lot to you. If you wouldn't have given me that advice I wouldn't have taken advantage of how lucky I am."
"I'm glad. You deserve all the good things in life." "Would you like for me to walk you home?" Alex asks. "You don't have to." "I want to. Just in case any other punk wants to mess with you." "Then I would love for you to walk me home. "Lead the way."
You start your walk home with Alex by your side. "What about you? How's your life been?" Alex asks, a soft smile on her face. "Well I too got a job and my own apartment. My parents slowly began to accept me and well I guess we're fine." "I never did ask. Why did they kick you out?" "Well, I'm gay and they were not okay with it so they told me to pack up my stuff and leave."
Alex nods and says,"I'm gay too." You look at her in shock and she says,"Took me a while to figure it out but I couldn't be happier." "Do you have a girlfriend?" You ask curiosity in your voice. Alex shakes her head and laughs sadly. "No. I had a fiancée but we broke it off a few months ago."
"I'm sorry," You say locking eyes with her. "It's fine. I mean it wasn't at first but she was right. It wasn't going to work in the end." "I'm sure you'll find the girl for you." "Likewise." You continue the rest of the short walk in silence.
"Well this is it," You say as you stand outside your apartment building. "Would you like to come in?" "No. I wouldn't want to get in you way." You notice a strange stain on her jacket. Alex follows you eyes and curses. She takes off her jacket to reveal a long gash on her arm. "Guess that punk did land one on me," She jokes.
"Now you have to come in. There is no way I'm letting you go home while you're bleeding." Alex nods and says,"Guess there's no point in arguing." You grab her hand and lead her to your apartment. You take the keys out of your pocket and open the door. You walk in and Alex closes the door behind her. You look down and notice your still holding her hand.
You blush and squeak out a sorry. "It's okay. I don't mind," Alex says, a smirk on her face. You feel your heartbeat quicken and you try to find a first aid kit to distract yourself. You find one as Alex washes the cut at the sink. She sits on the couch as you walk back to her. "This might hurt," You warn. Alex nods and you spray antibiotic spray on the cut. You hear her hiss lightly and you chuckle.
"Told you." You grab a bandage and carefully wrap her wound. "Like new." "Do I get a lollipop?" Alex asks with a raised eyebrow. You lean in carefuly and say,"No. But you get this." She closes the distance between you and kissed you. You wrap your arms around her neck as you sit on her, straddling her.
You pull away and say,"Is that better than a lollipop?" "Way better." You kiss her again but are interrupted by Alex's phone ringing. Alex groans and takes her phone out. "Yes?" She asks annoyed. You chuckle and get off of her. Alex sighs and says,"Fine I'll be there, but you owe me one."
She stands up and says,"There's an emergency at work and as much as I would love to stay, I have to go." She kisses you once more and you ask,"Would you like to go to dinner with me someday?" "Like a date?" You nod and she says,"Of course. I'll text you later." She walks to the door and you say,"But you don't have my phone number." "Just get mugged again and I'll save you," She says as she walks out the door.
