And maybe that had something to do with the entire Stede Bonnet situation, sure, but it seemed more likely that it was a side-effect of last night’s amateur amputation hour. “So, what is it?             “SO YOU’RE LIKE... a doctor?” it’s not that jim............ hasn’t met doctors before. ironically, they’re not like the others onboard the revenge. they come from a slightly more civilized background. sort of. though medical professionals are somewhat outside their usual social circle.

even though everyone knows who they are now, && it’s not a secret,   (  they’ve dropped the disguise, for one thing  )   jim still doesn’t talk much. they prefer to listen && observe, silently staring down whoever is nearby until they get intimidated or weirded out && leave them alone. which is why, even though it’s been a couple of weeks && it’s not a very big ship or crew, this is the first time they’ve spoken to the man. they’ve waited until they’ve gotten him alone before cornering him by the foremast, seemingly appearing out of nowhere. their hat sits low on their brow, shielding their face from the afternoon sun, && shrouding their eyes in darkness.

jim looks him up && down once. “...you any good?”

Had the bleak London winter ever complimented a young man’s demeanor so well before? A shadow of his former self, the despondent Victor Frankenstein had stood in stark contrast to his joyous companion Clerval when convening with with the brilliant men who resided in this city. The knowledge of his monstrous future task haunted him, the demands of the wretch echoing in his ears. Perhaps even now, the dark circles under despondent tired eyes betrayed the cold feeling of dread he carried like an anchor in his chest. Still he forced himself to be in the presence of others, if only to acquire the latest scientific information needed to fulfill his grisly promise.

His determined efforts had led him to the company of a Mr. Lewis Anwyl- it was his hope that the knowledge of the  surgeon may make the physical task of assembling another abomination less painful. The somber young man had kept a steady gaze on his newfound companion, attempting to absorb every word of their conversation.  

❝ Forgive me for stating the apparent, Mr. Anwyl, but your extensive knowledge in the workings of human anatomy suggests quite a berth of hands-on experience. ❞ Victor commented, attempting to keep his tone a casual one. 

❝ If I am to assume that the situation of supply here in London is as dire as it is in Ingolstadt, I’m curious of how you and your fellow surgeons are able to...❞  He paused a moment, feeling around his vocabulary for the politest term for cadaver he could find.  ❝...acquire the means to develop your skillset. ❞
