Alexis had just finished up a session with a client, the woman’s husband had recently passed and she was finding trouble coping so much so, her depression turned into her just being lethargic, not going to work. She ended up writing a prescription for anti depressants. Offering sound advice, and letting her know she’d follow up with their next session. The woman had left, and Alexis smiled. This profession wasn’t always the easiest, and it was hard to get back into when she was brought back as a vampire but she was happy to make any type of progress even if it was them opening up, or them moving from being quiet to speaking up a little. She shuffled her notes and put it in that clients folder, she got up to get herself some coffee from her coffee machine, she had a few things to finish up before she could go home. She poured it in her mug, not having anymore clients. It wasn’t until she heard the door open, and a body slump against the couch she had and the scent hit her nose. Although it was mainly Derek’s, she could smell the faint traces of two other’s. She turned around seeing the alpha on the couch. “Well hey there stranger..what do I owe the visit?” she said, knowing it’d been a long while since she actually seen the wolf. Her face scanned his face, something appeared to be heavy on his mind. She placed her cup down, as she pulled out her notepad. “Derek, did you want to talk?” she asked the alpha, while she wasn’t expecting more clients she couldn’t turn away a friend.
Amelia raised an eyebrow curiously over at Alexis. "What's that?" she asked, wondering what the medic was going to tell her, what could her secret possibly be. She knew she hadn’t been the best company for the past week, a mixture of work-related stress, lack of sleep, too much coffee, and another enough food was making the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent rather miserable.
It was a rough mission. Amelia spent four days in Medical recovering once they came back before Alexis even cleared her to go home. Even though the wounds healed, it was still taking a little time to get her full strength back.
Each of the Avengers and her friends were taking turns each night to make sure she was getting rest and eating enough. She was snuggled up on the couch with her friend, re-watching Star Wars for...well, Amelia couldn’t recall in this exact moment, the exhaustion taking hold, especially when she was warm, safe, a belly full of good mushroom soup, with her best friend, and Alexis gently playing with her hair.
“Hm. I love Han, but I still prefer Luke,” she mumbled before finally dozing off to sleep.

“Okay, doing good,” Amelia told her over the ear comm. “The drop-off should be at the cafe. The contact said the outdoor table, wearing a baseball cap,” she repeated the information to Alexis.

Steve got up to pick up their coffee order, and Amelia spotted Alexis across the shop, smiling and giving her a thumb’s up. She shyly smiled in response.
Okay, yes, Alexis was right. Her friend usually was. One of these days, Amelia would learn that.
And today, she couldn’t be happier in her life to be wrong.
She was going to bake Alexis something special as a thank you for playing coach and forcing her to actually ask out Steve. Without Alexis, Amelia might not have ever done so and would have just been pining for the Star-Spangled Avenger for the rest of her life... Though, now, with Alexis sitting on the other side of the coffee shop, Amelia was reminded of the ‘Kiss the Girl’ scene from The Little Mermaid...
“Because it sounds like you’ve been talking with Sam... It’s no fair when you two gang up on me with my mental hang-ups, which I still say are valid and you are just biased because of our deep and loving friendship, Alexis.”
“ you deserve good things. ” (for whomever you want, doesn't even have to be one of my guys!)

“I’m as happy as I have any right to be,” Amelia responded to Alexis, not even bothering with a false smile this time.
“I’m fine, I promise.”
To her, that one wasn’t a lie. After all, she was physically alright, the Avengers were not hurt, everyone was safe... She was just...lonely. That was fine, though. She was used to that. It was fine.
“Oh, really?” Alexis tried to suppress the urge to smirk at her friend. She reached over to try and grab some popcorn from the bowl Amelia was holding. “And that doesn’t depend on what you want to share? Such as information about how you managed to get not just one but two super sexy super soldiers to follow you around like well trained puppy dogs?”
To Amelia’s credit, Alexis had only picked up on the relationship developing between Amelia, Steve and Bucky earlier that day. It was in the way Bucky had given Amelia a lingering glance that only a lover could give and it was in the way Amelia had immediately blushed as a result. No one else, as far as Alexis was aware, had noticed that exchange. Alexis had sat on this information until she and Amelia were sat in her lounge for their usual girls night of wine, popcorn and movies.
Alexis couldn’t keep her smirk suppressed any longer. She winked at her friend too. “I gotta say I was impressed when you finally told Steve how you felt about him but I’m infinitely more impressed that you’ve bagged Barnes too.”
At first, Amelia smiled at the first statement from Alexis before, unfortunately, munching on a handful of popcorn right when the medic asked her about the truth between herself and the Avenger super soldiers.
Amelia nearly choked, and once she stopped coughing, her throat now suddenly dry and scratchy, she drank the rest of her glass of wine, her cheeks taking on quite a rosy hue as she shyly glanced back towards her best friend.
She supposed sooner or later, Amelia would be having this conversation with Alexis. The woman was her best friend and was highly observant. She thought they were being so careful! She bit her bottom lip, silently weighing in the pros and cons of telling Alexis right now, confirming what she suspected. In the end, she realized she might as well come clean, because she was going to find out anyway...
Amelia cleared her throat, thinking on how to even explain something so surprising, and yet so natural at the same time, happened. She poured herself another glass and took a big gulp before finally speaking.
“Bucky approached me,” she confessed. “Well, he approached Steve first. It’s not really a surprise the two have a history together, but well, Steve wasn’t sure how I was going to react to...the suggestion of being with both of them.” Her cheeks flushed a deeper crimson. “Truth be told, I...I mean, not that there’s anything wrong with polyamory, so long as all the parties are consenting, but I just never thought it was for me, you know?” Certainly she knew it would shock a lot of people to hear she was in such a romantic relationship with both of them. Of course, not like Amelia really cared, but she had to admit, it even surprised herself a little that she was not only okay but enjoying their relationships.
“Well, Bucky...got a little impatient...” Her voice trailed off as she recalled the memory vividly. “I guess Steve planned on originally bringing it up that night at dinner, but he was running late. Bucky and I were at my apartment, just talking, waiting on Steve to come back so we can go to dinner, and he... Well, okay, we both know Bucky can be a flirt, but there was just... There was something different about him that night... It didn’t feel like he was teasing.” She paused to polish off her second glass of wine.
“He kissed me. I was in shock. He actually leaned over and kissed me. And of course, that’s when Steve walked in. I spotted him, and I started crying. I felt awful at first. I didn’t want Steve angry at Bucky, but I didn’t want him to think I was cheating on him. I remember I was crying and telling him I was sorry when he shakes his head and looks over at Bucky and went, ‘Damnit Buck, I thought we were telling her at dinner’!”
“And well, the beginning of that little talk was awkward, yes...but I really love both of them, they love me, and... Well, that’s how it happened.”
