Taylor Mathews - Head Over Feeling

It's not everyday that your friend releases an EP. It's not everyday that you get to watch your friend play in amphitheaters rocking out. It's not everyday you get to watch your friend make the semi-finals of America's Got Talent while capturing the heart of America in the process. Then again, I friends with Taylor Mathews. Reviewing his new EP Head Over Feeling seems so surreal to me. It was only a couple years ago that we would hangout and just play guitar at Saturday bible studies. As I was beginning to learn guitar, I would try to get Taylor to teach me something: a chord, some progression, anything. The music room in his house is sick. And even after all this time, he still remains the same down-to-earth dude that will always be remembered for telling Sharon Osborne that he's "shaking like a dog."

Let's talk about the music. It's a fantastic debut, plain and simple. This sampler has mainstream potential and Taylor's overall sound is a mix of Jason Mraz and Joe Brooks. The acoustic riffs and hip hop drum beats are infectious and will definitely make you bob your head. There is a lyrical maturity that is apparent as well. This song, Head Over Feeling, is a great of example of that.

I'm really proud of this kid for all the hard work he's been doing. Everyone definitely check his music out. His EP is on iTunes.
