“SO FAR SO GOOD”

“As if LA wasn’t already filled with highly Instagrammable walls” was how online lifestyle magazine @Racked responded to the addition of this mural on Abbot Kinney in Venice, California. A New York brand known for its cool streetwear, and for its support of street art, @RagandBone commissioned Miami-based Alex Yanes to create this installation in 2016. Like many other street artists of his generation Yanes told @LATimes he always liked to draw and paint, and grew up skateboarding, but it was when he started working with wood to build his own skate ramp that skateboard culture and art began to merge and soon he was encouraged to cut one of his characters out of wood. With work now avidly collected by many big-name followers he says “So Far So Good” looks back at being told he’d never achieve success and the important message of “not giving up on your dreams.”  @AlexYanes  @streetartcities​  @abbotkinneyblvd

I made it to Tampa for my Grandmom’s 90th birthday dinner! Doesn’t she look amazing?!?! Here are some art and food pics from my brief stop in whatever they call the greater Tampa/Sarasota/StPete area! Thanks @steve.weintraub.7 and @sarah_j_johns for the hospitality!
