Heavily influenced by improvisational dance, Taylor White uses figurative art to explore consciousness and the point where the soul meets physical form. Raised in North Carolina and educated in Savannah, White spent time in Norway and Australia before returning to Raleigh. James Marshall, aka Dalek, is best known for his Space Monkey character but increasingly applies his bold color palette to pure geometric compositions, exploring the push and pull between rigidity and fluidity. Born in Connecticut and spending time in Japan, Hawai'i, and New York, Dalek also landed in North Carolina. In 2016 Dalek was in Detroit participating in the annual @MuralsIntheMarket festival and invited White to make a guest appearance—resulting in the stunning juxtaposition in this work at St Aubin and Gratiot in @EasternMarket. @taylurk/ @dalek2020/
