Re: Ninny in Moomins. "-I don’t remember if this was a thing in the book or if it was just the 90s cartoon." I can't say for sure about other languages, but in the original book the story ends with just Ninny laughing at the shore with Moominpappa in the sea. The original Finnish&English dubs of the cartoon very specifically says that "she was now ready for anything... anything that is, except seeing her aunt". So happily Ninny doesn't get sent back to her horrible aunt.

I don’t remember how it went in the swedish dub but I recently saw the japanese dub and that went “now she could go live with her aunt again because now she can take on anything!” which is like...japan wtf???

but I’m glad to know this wasn’t a thing in the book
