Interview with the curator Alfredo Villar for Arteinformado
Alfredo Villar: “Pienso en un museo colaborativo, donde las obras no se encuentren encerradas, sino convivan en las calles, en la vida cotidiana, en la comunidad”
My interview with the Peruvian curator Alfredo Villar has been published in Arteinformado (in Spanish). In the interview we spoke about the curator's career, which has focused on Amazonian art and Peruvian urban popular cultures. During the conversation, Villar analyses the tensions between indigenous art, the global market and institutions, criticising cultural extractivism and advocating for decolonising and collaborative curatorial models that prioritise community networks over hegemonic circuits.
