((Announcement))

((Look, I'm really not sure how best to do this.  I wanted to make some sort of beautiful statement, but under the circumstances and how shaken up I am, I guess I'll do the best I can.

Some of you have been asking about the Edwin admin (the third, the one I've been worried about).  Well, I finally received word late last night that he - or rather, she - passed away about three weeks ago.  I don't have a lot of details, but I wanted let you guys know.

I don't think most of you knew the admin, but I did - not the way you know a friend outside of tumblr, I guess, but the best way you can via message.  And she got to be a very close friend of mine to be honest.  (To the point where I just had a horrible feeling when I hadn't heard from her in so long.  It wasn't like her not to tell me what was up.)

Her significant other already terminated the Edwin blog, and her other blog (in case you didn't realize) was Alfred Waud's.  She was also the former Lewis Powell.  (I tell you this so if you talked to any of these via message or any other way, you'll know.)  I got to know her as Alfred, and she eventually agreed to be the Edwin for me when Edwin II disappeared.

But, at the heart of it, to me she was Liz.  And she was my friend.  One who I already have missed and will continue very much to miss.))

Freaky Coincidences(?) That Tend to Make Up My Days...

((So, I'm looking through this book that's on my comps list, about 19th century religion in America, and my eye is drawn to a full-page printing of a cover of Harper's Weekly.  For which Alfred Waud drew the illustration.  Which is the guy I'm considering doing my/part of my dissertation on (quick sketch artists for the Civil War have proven fascinating to me of late).  It's an 1867 sketch of a circuit preacher.  By A.R. Waud.

If I really believed in such things (instead of merely joking about them or finding them mildly bewildering and fascinating), I would have to see it as (yet another) sign that I should do this as my dissertation.  Or I just might have a subconscious addiction to the history rp characters on here....))

*dances around the kitchen, finishing a pie to take with them to the studio today*

*finds a surreptitious place in the sitting room to sit and draw Alfred, who's tucked up on the sofa with his notebook, sketching, the kittens sleeping on either side of him.  Pokes her tongue out in concentration, making as little sound as possible so as not to disturb him*

I think I have all the ingredients necessary for the special French toast I want to make Alfred so he can have breakfast in bed tomorrow before we go to the new studio to make more lists.  He'll hem and haw about it, I'm sure, but I want to do that for him.  I do love him so.
