So, ngl, I definitely based a D&D homebrew off of the Madra-Alhafra-Kibombo branch of TLA. Boy howdy did it not go at all like the game. And I even planned for it to not go like the game. Like... I planned for A B C or D to happen. They went with option K
If any of you are amused by stupid theories developed at a late hour, I came up with one that explains what happened to Felix in Dark Dawn.
Remember when Briggs told Felix to keep Alhafra safe from politicians while he escaped? This theory involves Felix taking these words to heart, and shortly after The Lost Age he announced that he would be travelling, and "disappeared". But really what he did was get a new hair style (he rolled it up into a pompadour and colored it a more reddish brown), change out his clothes, and find Lonesome George and adopt him as a travelling companion. He immediately sailed off for Alhafra, and met with the mayor, challenging him with all sorts of completely true claims about his poor leadership. The mayor, obviously, had him kicked out, but he didn't stop there. He publicly spoke out about how much of a bad guy the mayor actually was, and proposed new methods of building Madra back up. Together with his official mascot, Lonesome George, he managed to gather up a huge following (meaning, literally all of Alhafra), and the mayor was dethroned, and Felix installed as the new mayor of Alhafra.
Lonesome George was, of course, Alhafra's new poster animal, and with the charisma of both the turtle and Felix, Alhafra grew to be an even larger and more prosperous trading port than before.
Briggs visited Alhafra eventually, planning on finding out how the old mayor was getting along (and punching him, or something), but he was surprised to see a much younger new mayor in charge. Felix decided to meet with him (since it's impossible to not know who is docking in your ports, especially if you are an adept), and he ended up telling Briggs everything, since for some reason the guy is trustworthy. He was right, though, since by then Briggs was older and slightly more mature, and Briggs ended up making a deal with Felix, benefiting both Champa and Alhafra. Until Champa burned down, anyway.
They ended up becoming great friends, but Eoleo still didn't like Felix because of everything he did when Briggs was a pirate. He was probably incredibly sad when Briggs died, saying something sad like, "I'll protect Champa for you now, Briggs." Or maybe something cool instead. He probably said something.
It definitely isn't true, but I thought of that out of the blue when I was looking through my music posts and saw a mention of that line.
Two Alhafran Guards before you defeat Briggs
Guard 1: *My partner's always in such a bad mood... Maybe I should bake him a cake...*
Guard 2: *I hate my job. I always have to be so tough and secretive around people. Deep down inside, all I really want to do is read them some of my poetry...*
