Maybe Gideon is with Rumple in HH...

(I feel the need to preface this post, as I do every time I speculate about something that might be interesting or enjoyable to watch, with the caveat that I don’t really BELIEVE this might happen ...but...)

So I think most people are assuming that Ossifer Rogers is going to be a single dad to the darling CSpawn in S7. I was as well, based on Eddy saying that we will know in 7.1 whether CY had a kid, and our knowledge of what was and wasn’t filmed in SB for that ep. (JMo didn’t film at all, for example.) The obvious answer to me is that we would see Killy with his child in HH. 

But later filming and interviews have made me wonder. We have had Killy’s centric with no indication of there being a kid, and apparently Rogers is going to feel a sense of loss he doesn’t understand, or something like that. If he’s a single parent, it seems that the curse would have to give him some backstory (widowhood or divorce) that WOULD explain his feelings of loss. And now Kitsowitz have said something along the line of Killy having a “pressing goal”  rather than a love interest, which again seems like a strange way to describe parenthood.

Meanwhile...we’ve heard absolutely no details about Detective Gold/Pewter (snort), not even his name, which implies to me that they are holding something significant back. HH Rumple is wearing a ring on his widower’s finger (just as Gold did in cursed Storybrooke). And in his centric, we’re apparently going to see trick-or-treating kids in a Seattle suburb.

Yeah, that’s not much in  the way of suggestion, but Rumple being a single father would answer a few questions (as well as open many more). Perhaps more important, it gives him slightly different stakes from Killy’s--we don’t have two characters with identical stories of remembering their real lives so they can get back to their wives and children. 

It would also address another detail that’s been niggling at me: Who is Alice in Hyperion Heights? So far, I think Bobby is the only person we know of who has filmed with Rose (he mentioned it at SDCC, but they hadn’t spent enough time together for him to remember her name, oops). And judging from the tweet posted of her chair, she is filming again for 7.4.

I’m doubtful that even Kitsowitz would give Rumple a love interest, let alone one thirty years his junior when ABC seemed to have so much trouble with the Rumbelle age difference. (Especially since Alice is my guess for the new LGBT character, based solely on the fact that she doesn’t have a canonical love interest and seems to be by far the most marginalized of the recurring cast, sigh.) If she works at the police station she would probably have filmed with both Bobby and Colin and that desk sergeant guy. So what if she is Gideon’s nanny? 

The other reason that I like this theory--in addition to the fact that Papa Rumple is THE CUTEST and it makes the stakes really high if Gid is not safe in SB with Belle--is that it leaves room for Giles to guest star again. Gideon being present makes Rumple having dreams/visions of grown Gid, perhaaps giving him advice or warnings, more plausible, IMO.

Of course this would also increase the mystery/danger of what happened to Belle. And I know not even to hope that Detective Rumple would get a glimpse of an enchantingly beautiful woman across Roni’s bar who reminds him of his dead wife in every way except for being blond...

To all trans Harry Potter fans, I’m so sorry for the hurt JK Rowling is causing, but please know how valuable and loved y’all are.

We stand with the trans community. It hurts when Harry Potter means so much, and you find out what the author is like. We will continue to support the Harry Potter universe but J.K. Rowling, we’re letting her go.
