ALIE 1 theory/speculation.
Okay so @vkjazzy I was reading your spec post and you said that with some lines the ALIE voice sounded more robotic than we’d ever hear her. I thought: what is that is a recording from before, and we’ll hear it in ep 1 or 2 when either Jaha directs them to a recording from ALIE 1 she used to convince him to go along with the plan (which narratively is between season 2 and 3); OR when Raven goes searching for information in the Ark mainframe, where we know ALIE downloaded herself on? This would mean there’s more information on the melting nuclear power plants.
Also, the ALIE 1 we see in season 3 is not the same one/does not have the same form as the ALIE 1 we know is responsible for the destruction of the earth; meaning that back then, she didn’t work with chips to lead people to the City of Light. The CoL and the chips were just a nefarious means to a benign end (AKA perverse instantiation), but they were not the whole of ALIE’s programming. ALIE as a whole still confuses me a bit, but it’s a computer programme that’s supposed to calculate demographics. It’d need to incorporate a lot of factors to do this, which means there’s a whole bunch of information needed in order to come up with the concept of the CoL, not just of facts and figures but also of cultural ideas and religious concepts such as heaven.
Now, while the CoL and the method of the chips leading people there are destroyed, I think there is still residue of the ALIE 1 programme left, which is purely data and information. I think this is what they’ll use to figure out what places are likely safe, how much time they have etc.
