I played my first game of OPR today!
And we all had a great time! ALL of us want to play again!
My husband, myself, and 4 of my friends got together at a really nice game store that was convenient for all of us. Between my own spare 40k models, my fantasy models (that acted as proxies for one of my friend's War Disciples / World Eaters) and my friend's spare Dark Elf Raider models, we were able to get functional 1000 point armies to everyone at the get-together.
I got to fight my husband's DAO Union guys with my own Robot Legions. The game was so tight it literally came down to the last maneuver of the game, where I won by placing a brick of Warriors between two very closely placed objectives and claiming them both, then eliminating the last vestiges of threat in the area.
My Reanimator was terrorizing the left flank of the board, and in the final exchanges of the game was finally taken down by what remained of the DAO Stealth Suits and Grunts... but there used to be 3 Stealth Suits and 10 grunts back there. They gave my Reanimator a 1 Star review on YELP, and said "0/10, would not fight again."
As it turns out, a giant model that can blow handfuls of infantry off the board each turn, that also doles out "Regeneration" on TOP of regular Defense rolls and Self-Repair rolls is a bit bullshit.
