Three giant alien bugs in the city
Shiny Crustle // Shiny Galvantula
I'm not a huge fan of spiders, or bugs in general, but today i learned about this orb-weaving spider from Australia that earned the nickname "alien butt spider" and i feel the need to share this neat lil creature.
It's scientific name or whatever is Araneus Praesignis and like I mentioned, it's an orb-weaver, which is the most common type of spider - a family of a shit ton of different spiders with different bright patterns and fancy webs basically. Alien Butt Spiders make their webs by using their silk webs to make a sorta hammock within a not-all-the-way-closed leaf.
Both males and females of this lil green spider have large black decorations on the rear of their abdomen, hence the name "Alien Butt." The decor is likely use of survival/mimicry to make the bug appear larger or more threatening than it actually is. The spider is generally around 5-7 mm in size at the very most. Doesn't seem threatening at all.
And indeed, it is almost completely harmless to humans and can be handled without medical consequences usually. Allergic reactions can be possible but that varies person to person and is not usually a big deal. These spiders eat small flying insects and invertebrates.

Bioraptor vs FO Leonard Spider. Who would win.
Isn't it very erotic?
