I kept telling myself I’d do it, and I finally did! Here’s the updated, portrait of Alifae, a Jotun fighter from the Ocean of Cycles. I’m hoping to do updated portraits of Kuru and Devnet as well in the coming weeks!

24: What motivates them?

Alifae initially travels the world with her group of friends because she wants to prove her strength and worth to both herself and her peers. She associates physical strength and combat ability with personal worth because she grew up both in a post-war society and in a culture that places a high value on warriors. As her travels continue Alifae becomes more aware of the future, and starts looking for a mentor or companion to form a blood pact with. Alifae has no real idea of an endgame for her life, preferring to live in the moment until she discovers what she wants in the end.

Devnet began her travels for a steady income and a roof/tent over her head. She is motivated by both the practical need for some kind of way to eat every day, and her desire to help the ones she cares about. As time passes Devnet begins to care more and more for her new found friends and wants to keep them safe and healthy. So despite her growing somewhat tired of the adventuring lifestyle Devnet continues to travel with the crew, hoping to eventually retire and settle down.

Alifae tends to get herself hurt often, luckily Devnet is always there to patch her up.

My second character for @dyemelikeasunset and @mothsbymoonlight ‘s fantasy world! A Jotun warrior named who is the second most recent member to join the adventuring crew. Her name is Alifae, and is the muscle of the group, bringing some much needed combat prowess to the crew. Alifae uses external mist magic to create clouds to hide herself and the party for effective sneaking, and intimidation factor. (People attacking in and out of mist is pretty scary)

Growing up in the post-war north, Alifae didn’t feel their was too much to keep her there, and eventually her wanderlust got the better of her. She left the north, much to the chagrin of the folk she lived with, and traveled south. For a long while she did not get along very well, her brash personality often turning strangers away. However she persevered and eventually she met up with a pair of Myr adventurers and a Goblin healer. Her aggressive nature actually fit in rather well with the Myr, though it took some time for the Goblin, Devnet, to warm up to her. Nowadays Devnet and Alifae are queerplatonic friends for life, and it’s mostly Alifae’s tendency to get hurt a lot that keeps Devnet around.
