Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes, and now that I’m officially 50 in every time zone, I’m going to throw down some 50-year old wisdom I’ve acquired over time: 1) you can have the life you want 2) the friends you keep and the crowd you hang out with will make #1 easier or more difficult 3) having so much fun and being filled with so much joy every day is basically the whole point of life. 4) All that other stuff we are told we need to do - like service and sacrifice - doesn’t feel like service and sacrifice once you get #3 down. It feels like so much fun and so much joy. 5) Put your own oxygen mask on first. 6) don’t make comparisons between yourself and anyone else 7) tell the people that you love that you love them. Tell them as often as you can. 8) take a hot minute every day to take stock of all that you have and be grateful for it. Then just luxuriate in the bliss of gratification and satisfaction. 9) the first step to getting what you want (for example, a dream 50th birthday trip to Spain with dear friends) is to believe that you are deserving of it 10) you always have a choice, so always choose love ❤️ Thanks to everyone who wished me well today. I am dumbfounded at how amazing this birthday trip has been. I feel so loved and am so full of love. The beauty of this place and the people I’m with overwhelms me to tears. I always say that I don’t like the word “blessed” because to say “I’m blessed” sounds like someone else isn’t blessed, and that makes me feel weird. At dinner tonight we tried out other words. “Lucky” sounds too full of risk. Ann suggested “fortunate,” and that maybe is the right one, but for right now this moment, it isn’t strong enough to convey how I feel. I am so incredibly in love with my life, I am loving this place so hard, and I am so much loving receiving all the love and kindness from my friends this week.
