late night television s p l u r g e s had become a normal thing for emily———even though she knew she probably had forgotten school work to do. she laid sprawled out on the couch with a blanket pilled on top of her and a pillow behind her head, focus too into the current program on to fix the cover so it was over her feet. all the lights in the room were off, only the BLARING television provided a light source. it seemed that this was how every night ended for her, though she wouldn’t deny it nor want it to change. with school seeming to be literally suffocating her, it was only fit that she evened it out with long nights of television marathons. a knock on the door, though, had pried her from her cocoon of safety and happiness so she could answer it. hands flicked the light on before fingers latched on the brass doorknob to turn it, revealing in a few moments whom the door-knocker was.
the knocker had proved to be the one and only alistair. but why, at such a late hour ? and so unexpectedly ? she knew something was wrong. his demeanor upon the opening of the door had answered her question right before she was about to ask it————something was wrong. she simply stepped aside to let him in, then closed the door behind him. ❛ is something up ? ❜ emily questioned, after the two had sat down on her sofa. it was the first thing to be spoken since she opened the door and let him in without hesitation. the EXPRESSION on his face when the door swung open had filled in the empty atmosphere instead of them having to using words. but emily’s curiosity got to the best of her, and she broke the silence rather quickly upon sitting down. something had to of happened———but what was it ? he had his hings with him, which indicated to her that he was no longer living with julia. what had changed ? the redhead was interested as to what was going on with the other, an eager yet anxious feeling overwhelmed her as eyes studied the facial features of alistair — — — trying to get any type of body language or movement to help her piece the situation together. ❛ you know you can ALWAYS tell me a n y t h i n g. i’m here for you. always. ❜
